Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Manufacturing Data Technician owns the accuracy of Moonshot’s manufacturing data in the ERP system. This role creates and maintains Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, part numbers, and serial number, production, and QC labels for our switchboards, panelboards, and industrial control panels. Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering, the Manufacturing Data Technician works closely with Engineering, Purchasing, Production, and Quality so the right parts, labor, and labels are in place before every job reaches the floor.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the ERP system for new and existing products, ensuring correct components, quantities, and revisions.
  • Build and maintain routings, including operation sequences, work centers, and labor standards provided by Manufacturing and Process Engineering.
  • Create new part numbers and maintain item master records following Moonshot’s part numbering standards.
  • Create and print serial number labels, production labels, and QC labels, ensuring they are accurate and match each job.
  • Process approved engineering changes (ECOs) by updating BOMs, routings, part records, and revision history.
  • Review drawings and engineering releases for completeness before entering data; identify discrepancies and escalate them to Engineering for resolution. This role does not approve engineering changes.
  • Audit BOM, routing, and item master data regularly to find and correct errors before they affect production, inventory, or costing.
  • Support document control and record keeping under Moonshot’s ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or technical certificate preferred.
  • 1–3 years of experience with BOMs, routings, or item master data in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with an ERP/MRP system, including BOM, routing, and item master modules.
  • Strong attention to detail and high accuracy in data entry.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and interpret bills of materials.
  • Advanced Excel skills (lookups, data cleanup, bulk uploads).
  • Experience with label software (such as BarTender or Brady) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with UL standards (UL508A, UL67, UL891) and ISO 9001 is highly preferred.

WHY MOONSHOT?

  • Practical Engineering Focus: Work on real-world power distribution equipment where sound engineering judgment, compliance, and manufacturability matter.
