Job Description

You will own the front-end analysis that turns an emerging Private Markets business need into a clearly defined, well-understood piece of work, with the outcome, scope, and rationale established before delivery begins.

Tech Solutions is MUFG Investor Services' technology organisation, reporting to the CTO. It's structured around five solution domains, each accountable for its own roadmap, budget, and outcomes. Within this structure, the role serves as a specialist analytical and subject-matter-expert resource aligned to the Private Markets domain — covering Private Equity, Real Estate, and Debt services — while remaining deployable across domain boundaries as business priorities require.

The role brings deep Private Markets investment-data and front-to-back operations expertise to the early stages of complex change — translating requirements into practical solution designs, and taking responsibility for the hands-on configuration of capital calls and distributions, commitment and fund-level accounting, investor allocations, valuations, and reporting within Investran and related systems. These capabilities underpin the service MUFG provides Private Markets clients across front, middle, and back office, which is why the role is accountable for building and finalising that configuration itself, not just defining it.

What you'll do

  • Act as the domain SME and analytical lead for our Private Markets front-to-back capability — spanning fund and investor accounting, capital calls and distributions, commitments, valuations, and reporting — and the systems and processes behind it, principally Investran.
  • Bring deep knowledge of the Private Markets landscape such as Private Equity, Real Estate, and Debt services, including fund structures, waterfall mechanics, capital activity, and valuation practices, to the front-end shaping of solutions.
  • Conduct front-end analysis of work such as feasibility, operating-model implications, data quality, and readiness, going directly to the data and systems yourself using SQL, APIs, and AI tooling.
  • Own the configuration of our Private Markets investment data systems directly: build and finalise configuration in Investran, including scripting, query-based logic, data mappings, and API integrations where needed in test and sandbox environments through to a working, production-ready answer, and decide when it's ready to be promoted. A dedicated engineering function then takes it through SDLC into live use and maintains it there.
  • Design and validate data mappings and integration flows across Investran and downstream/upstream systems, including consumption of unstructured data (e.g. capital call notices, LP statements, GP reporting) into structured data models.
  • Collaborate across stakeholder groups to define and document business requirements, and work alongside Solution Owners at the front end of work to shape intent and acceptance criteria for the parts that carry the most complexity.
  • Translate in both directions, representing technical limitations and implementation realities back to business stakeholders, and business intent back to engineers.
  • Own the working relationship with our Private Markets technology provider's product and implementation teams, and represent this capability at senior governance forums, as the senior point of contact for it.
  • Identify risks a delivery team would not otherwise see such as data gaps, downstream impacts, operational-readiness concerns, and regulatory implications as well as partner with Integration Quality Engineers on cross-team test scenarios that no single team can cover.
  • Support adoption readiness where value realisation depends on more than the build — communications, training, data clean-up, and operational change.
  • Build training material and run engagement forums that upskill relevant roles elsewhere in MUFG in Private Markets systems and processes, so this expertise doesn't depend on any one person.

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in Private Markets, with substantial exposure to Private Equity, Real Estate, and Debt services across fund administration, investor servicing, or asset-servicing technology.
  • Hands-on experience with Private Markets platforms whereas you are comfortable working through configuration tools, data models, and APIs directly, not just functional specifications.
  • Deep knowledge of the Private Markets landscape, including fund structures, capital call and distribution mechanics, commitments, waterfalls, valuations, and investor reporting across Private Equity, Real Estate, and Debt services.
  • Strong SQL and database querying skills, with experience in systems analysis, API integration, and data mapping design.
  • Experience with unstructured data consumption such as extracting and structuring data from sources such as capital call notices, GP/LP statements, and other Private Markets documentation.
  • Substantial experience gathering, analysing, and documenting business requirements, and translating them into clear solution intent and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience modelling business processes and producing analytical artefacts, such as process models, use cases, procedural guides, and scenarios.

Preferred

  • Experience configuring or extending Investran or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with industry messaging and data standards relevant to Private Markets reporting and data exchange.
  • Prior experience owning a technology provider relationship, or acting as an organisation's primary point of contact for a business-critical system such as Investran.
  • Experience creating training material or leading enablement and upskilling initiatives across a wider organisation.
  • Experience of platform implementation, configuration, or migration projects.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted analysis and discovery tooling.
