Universal Pictures International (UPI) owns and operates direct theatrical marketing and distribution of feature films in many locations around the globe including Austria, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Korea, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Spain, Switzerland and UK & Eire.  In other territories UPI market and distribute movies through its JV offices, as well as in select territories, licensees who are contracted to distribute on UPl's behalf as well as production operations, a leading television stations group, and world-renowned theme parks.

Job Description

Reporting to the Group Financial Controller for Australia and New Zealand, you will be instrumental in:

• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with other functional departments (marketing and sales), peers and managers at Head Office
• Ensuring business compliance with internal policies, local legislation and global accounting standards
• Managing month end process and reporting requirements, ensuring duties are completed, including analysis, reports and reconciliations
• Preparing income tax and transfer pricing data for external tax agent
• Ensuring tax compliance through completion of GST/BAS and FBT return
• Preparing required reports and supporting documents for annual external audits and internal audits when required
• Preparing annual statutory accounts
• Reviewing monthly participations reporting to distribution partner
• Maintaining Fixed Asset Register
• Completing forecasting and pacing of revenue and marketing spend
• Collaborating with marketing team to manage and reconcile individual film budgets
• Reviewing and coding all T&E ensuring policies are followed
• Analyzing and reporting on monthly overheads vs budget
• Reconciling all balance sheet accounts and complete cashflow variance analysis
• Helping manage our third-party offshore processing team

Qualifications

Basic requirements:

• CA/CPA Qualified
• Strong and proven experience as a Finance Manager within a medium/large business
• Strong financial reporting (balance sheet, profit and loss) experience and proficiency
• Demonstrated experience with supporting the business with appropriate accounting and financial information
• Demonstrated understanding of Statutory/US GAAP reporting requirements/standards
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Australian/NZ income tax, GST and FBT 
• Proven ability to manage month-end processes from start to finish
• Strong written and oral communication skills

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience with SAP
• You must have the right to work in Australia i.e. have Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
