In South Korea, we support leading semiconductor customers from our locations in Pyeongtaek and Dongtan.
What you’re going to do?
As a Field Service Engineer, you are the primary technical representative of Nearfield Instruments at customer sites. You will be responsible for servicing our advanced semiconductor metrology systems, performing preventive and corrective maintenance, executing hardware and software upgrades, and ensuring maximum system performance and availability.
You will troubleshoot complex technical issues, perform root cause analysis, and work closely with support and engineering teams to resolve customer challenges. In addition, you will help improve our products and service operations by providing feedback from the field and identifying opportunities for improvement.
You are also the eyes and ears of Nearfield at the customer fab, gathering insights on customer needs, product performance, and market developments.
Your responsibilities
Troubleshoot and resolve issues on Nearfield semiconductor metrology systems.
Collect diagnostic and logging data, perform analysis, and conduct root cause investigations.
Execute corrective actions and implement solutions during service activities and upgrades.
Perform preventive maintenance and system health checks.
Install and validate hardware and software upgrades.
Execute subsystem and system-level test procedures and document progress and results.
Identify improvement opportunities and provide feedback to engineering and support teams.
Replace and upgrade spare parts using approved procedures and tools.
Create and improve test, calibration, and service procedures.
Order and manage spare parts and tools when required.
Inspect and register incoming spare parts and consumables.
Prepare tools, facilities, procedures, and systems for service and upgrade activities.
Maintain service tools and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Support customers professionally and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
What do we require from you?
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 3 years of experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment, semiconductor metrology systems, wafer processing equipment, or related semiconductor capital equipment.
Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing environments and customer support operations.
Experience troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and system-level issues.
Strong affinity with software, system controls, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis.
Ability to analyze technical data and work effectively with remote engineering and support teams.
Experience with Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data analysis is considered a plus.
Strong communication and customer-facing skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities.
Self-driven, proactive, and capable of working independently in a demanding customer environment.
Strong team player with the ability to collaborate across global teams.
Fluent in Korean and able to communicate effectively in English.
