Job Description
The DOT Safety & Compliance Specialist supports the Fleet Services department by maintaining compliance with all applicable Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), company safety policies, and operational standards. This position plays a key role in monitoring driver compliance, promoting safe driving behaviors, assisting with fleet inspections, supporting driver onboarding and training efforts, and helping maintain a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to:
Driver Compliance Monitoring
- Review daily Hours of Service (HOS) violations and identify non-compliance trends.
- Conduct coaching discussions with drivers regarding HOS violations and corrective actions.
- Monitor electronic logging device (ELD) activity and ensure compliance with DOT regulations.
- Review and assign unassigned driving events to the appropriate drivers for verification and approval.
- Maintain accurate records of driver coaching and corrective actions.
Safety Monitoring and Driver Coaching
- Review inward and outward-facing camera events to identify coaching opportunities and recognize safe driving behaviors.
