Job Description

Member of Technical Staff, Product Design

Seattle, WA | Hybrid

NTT DATA AIVista, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT DATA, is a Silicon Valley-based AI company building enterprise AI products for complex, regulated environments. We combine deep AI product and engineering expertise with NTT DATA's industry knowledge, enterprise relationships, and systems integration capabilities to deploy AI solutions for enterprise customers globally.

The Role

AIVista is building AI products that automate complex operational work inside regulated enterprises. Designing these systems requires more than creating an intuitive interface. It requires defining how humans and AI agents work together when decisions have real business, financial, and regulatory consequences.

As a Member of Technical Staff, Product Design, you will own the human-AI interaction model across critical AIVista workflows. You will define what a trusted AI agent can decide autonomously, what requires human review, when an agent must escalate, what evidence it presents, and how users maintain control over AI-driven decisions.

Our first product is AI for Insurance, powered by AIVista. You will join a small, high-leverage team and work directly with Product, Engineering, and Applied Science to solve one of the most important design challenges in enterprise AI: how people and agents, as well as agents and other agents, coordinate, hand off work, escalate decisions, establish trust, and maintain accountability for outcomes.

Our development process is spec-driven. Design artifacts are first-class inputs into how we build, and you will create specifications engineers and coding agents can execute, build functional prototypes, and help establish the product design practice as AIVista scales.

What You'll Do

  • Own the human-AI interaction model for AIVista's core workflow patterns, starting with AI for Insurance.

  • Define the division of responsibility between people and AI agents, including what agents decide, propose, escalate, and return to human control.

  • Design interaction patterns for human-agent and agent-to-agent workflows, including confidence signals, human-in-the-loop controls, permissions, escalation paths, and auditable decision histories.

  • Design the tools and experiences that enable builders to author, configure, and operate AI agents.

  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and Applied Science to translate complex enterprise workflows into scalable product experiences.

  • Author journey specifications and experience acceptance criteria that engineers and coding agents can execute and automated verification can evaluate.

  • Build functional prototypes using AI-native and agentic development tools to test interaction models against real model behavior.

  • Own and evolve AIVista's design system as product infrastructure, including components, interaction patterns, accessibility standards, and machine-consumable rules.

  • Conduct direct research with enterprise users, including onsite observation of adjusters, underwriters, and operations teams.

  • Represent AIVista in client-facing workflow and product discussions with enterprise operations leaders, compliance teams, and senior technical stakeholders.

What Success Looks Like

In your first 90 days:

  • Develop a deep understanding of where work between people and agents breaks down across AIVista's customer workflows.

  • Get your first journey specifications implemented and build a working prototype that resolves an important behavioral or interaction question.

In your first 12 months:

  • Own the interaction model for AIVista's core workflow patterns in production.

  • Establish reusable human-agent and agent-to-agent patterns that builders, engineers, and coding agents can apply across products and customers.

  • Demonstrate measurable improvements in human touch rate, exception volume, accept and override ratios, and time to stand up known workflows for new customers.

What We're Looking For

  • 8+ years designing complex software products, including operational, workflow-driven, or enterprise products where users perform consequential work.

  • Experience owning design direction for a meaningful product area and taking ambiguous problems from discovery through production.

  • Deep experience in AI products or regulated, high-consequence workflows, ideally both, including agents, copilots, intelligent automation, human-in-the-loop systems, or comparable products.

  • Strong systems thinking across state, permissions, exceptions, queues, handoffs, dependencies, and information architecture.

  • Experience conducting direct customer discovery and translating firsthand understanding of user workflows into product decisions.

  • Ability to independently build working prototypes using AI-assisted, agentic, or code-based development tools.

  • Experience writing specifications and acceptance criteria that engineering teams can execute with minimal clarification.

  • Excellent interaction, information architecture, and visual design judgment.

  • Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to explain and defend design decisions with executive and client audiences.

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving environment with significant ownership and ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in regulated or high-consequence environments such as insurance, financial services, manufacturing, healthcare operations, logistics, or trading.

  • Experience designing AI-driven or probabilistic products, including agents, copilots, intelligent automation, or human-in-the-loop workflows.

  • Experience designing for trust, accountability, AI governance, and oversight, including explainability, decision provenance, confidence signals, and override paths.

  • Experience with spec-driven development, machine-consumable design systems, or accessibility for dynamic and AI-generated interfaces.

  • Experience establishing or scaling a product design practice.

  • Enterprise client-facing experience with senior operations and technology leaders.

You don't need to match every qualification. If this work excites you and you believe you can do it, we want to hear from you.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance

  • 401(k) plan with company match

  • HSA with significant employer contributions

  • Paid holidays and flexible PTO

  • Annual learning and development budget

Compensation

The estimated annual base salary range for this role is $140,000–$225,000 USD.

The salary for the successful applicant will depend on job-related factors such as education, training, work experience, business needs, and market demands. This range may be modified in the future. Total compensation also includes variable pay in the form of an annual target bonus and other cash incentives, with a combined potential of up to 50% of base salary.
