Access Essentials - Core Product
The Access Essentials organization drives Okta's core mission by designing and delivering robust authentication and authorization solutions across all Okta-protected resources. Our goal is to empower organizations with frictionless, highly secure access experiences. By engineering scalable cloud services and advanced client software, we enable seamless device logins and enforce strong authentication standards across enterprise applications. As an Architect in this group, you will play a pivotal role in shaping next-generation identity and security architectures. You will solve complex, high-impact technical challenges, define long-term product strategy, and elevate our engineering standards while navigating a fast-moving cybersecurity landscape.
Ideal candidate should be : Hands-on expert developer in Java who is deeply technical with a passion for building high-quality, secure, and performant applications and frameworks. Demonstrable experience leading technical projects involving 20+ engineers across multiple workstreams. Excited by the opportunity to work on cutting-edge security and identity management challenges and are a thought leader who can drive technical strategy and mentor other engineers. A collaborative individual with excellent communication skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams to deliver on a shared vision. Not just be a builder; but a force multiplier who can create frameworks and solutions that enable other teams to be more productive.
This role is to build, design solutions, and maintain our platform for scale. The ideal candidate is someone who has experience building software systems to manage and deploy reliable and performant infrastructure and product code at scale on a cloud infrastructure.
Minimum Requirements:
- Strong hands-on experience designing & developing enterprise software using Java with Springboot
- Deep understanding of object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, server-side technologies and distributed system concepts(caching, asynchronous processing, multi-threading)
- Strong experience working with relational databases, ideally MySQL, PostgreSQL or GraphDB
- Skilled in debugging and troubleshooting complex java codebase
- Passionate about writing clean, maintainable and scalable code with a deep focus on security
- Solid experience with cloud infrastructure platforms particularly AWS and GCP
- Proven experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and proven ability to work with cross-functional(Product/Design/Quality) stakeholders across multiple geo-locations
- Prior experience as an Architect/Technical Lead leading large scale architectural initiatives
Nice to have:
- Strong understanding of IAM protocols(FIDO, WebAuthn, SSO, SAML, OAuth, SCIM, OpenID Connect) and identity management best practices
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, secure coding practices, and certifications like CISSP or Security+.
- Some experience with javascript frameworks and basic UI development
- Prior experience building teams from ground-up
Education and Training:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
- 18+ years of software development experience, with at least 12+ years of experience designing and building enterprise grade software using Java at scale
