Campaign Manager

MiddleRemoteSalary undisclosed
Job Description

Only One runs campaigns that change minds and shape policy. Our international team of experts specializes in strategic communications, movement building, and public advocacy to drive impactful ocean and climate policy worldwide. Our philanthropically funded work focuses on supporting and amplifying the efforts of partners — both globally and in key regions — to restore ocean health and unlock the ocean’s potential as a climate solution.

About Only One

Only One is a campaigning organization set up to protect the ocean and stabilize the climate. We build campaigns that move governments, industry, and institutions, working alongside partners, scientists, creators, and communities around the world.

Since 2020 we have grown to a team of 25, spread across multiple countries and time zones. We are small for the scale of what we take on, which means everyone here has real ownership and the work moves quickly.

About the role

We’re hiring a Campaign Manager to lead the day-to-day execution of high-impact, fast-moving advocacy campaigns that change ocean and climate policy. You’ll join a team of talented campaign managers as your peers, who are the engine of our advocacy work: translating strategy into results, building strong coalitions with diverse partners, and managing the moving parts of major initiatives to win measurable victories for the ocean and the communities that depend on it.

You’ll bring sharp policy and political instincts, a bias for action, and the ability to motivate and coordinate teams to push work over the finish line.

If you like taking a campaign strategy and working out what it takes to win, this role will suit you.

What you’ll do

Campaign strategy and execution

  • Develop campaign strategy and turn it into time-bound work plans with named owners.
  • Track political and policy developments in real time, and adapt tactics as the picture changes.
  • Drive the project management of live campaigns, so milestones are met and momentum is sustained.
  • Work closely with marketing, communications, and creative to keep narrative, mobilization, and media aligned with campaign objectives.

Partnerships and coalitions

  • Build and sustain relationships with civil society organizations, scientists, Indigenous and community leaders, and advocacy coalitions.
  • Represent Only One in external campaign alliances, as a collaborative and strategic partner to organizations on the frontlines of ocean advocacy.
  • Coordinate activity across partner organizations, building alignment on shared goals and synchronizing moments of action.

Team coordination

  • Guide and support the people contributing to your campaigns, including marketers, PR experts, creatives, and policy advisors.
  • Manage the external consultants and contractors working on campaign delivery.
  • Foster a proactive, responsive, solutions-oriented campaign culture that values speed, experimentation, and strategic risk.

Tactics and delivery

  • Lead the development and delivery of campaign tactics, from digital actions and public mobilization to political pressure and influencer engagement.
  • Respond quickly when news breaks, an opening appears, or a threat emerges.
  • Work with data and analytics to monitor performance and iterate in real time.

Who you are

  • 3+ years leading tactical work in a fast-paced campaigning environment. An advocacy or political context is helpful but not essential.
  • A track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder campaigns with measurable outcomes.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with diverse partners and coalitions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with real attention to detail.
  • Political judgment, and a clear sense of where power sits and how policy actually changes. Experience of ocean and climate issues is helpful but not essential.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional teams, including external consultants and remote contributors.
  • Excellent written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
  • A deep commitment to environmental justice and to Only One’s mission.
  • Willing to flex hours to work with a global team, with the potential for some required travel.

How you show up

You have a bias for action. You’re at your best when the pace is fast and the stakes are high. You’d rather start, learn, and adjust than wait until the picture is complete.

You read the politics. You have a strong grasp of the landscape, and you know how to move a target and shape an outcome. You can tell the difference between activity and progress.

You work at both altitudes. You hold the long view of what a campaign is for, and you do the tactical work that delivers it. You move between them easily.

You believe in partnerships. You work well with organizations that don’t share your timelines or your incentives, and you’re generous with credit. Partners take your call because the last thing you ran together went well.

You’re organized under pressure. You run several campaigns at once without losing the detail on any of them, and the people working with you always know what they’re doing this week and why.

You thrive on teamwork. You bring humor, humility, and kindness to a fast-paced environment. You know that everyone here plays an essential role, and you treat them that way.

What we offer

  • Salary range: $83,000–100,000 USD, based on experience
  • Fully remote working, with a global team and flexible hours
  • Generous paid time off, plus organization-wide winter and summer breaks
  • Health, dental and vision coverage, or a local equivalent depending on your location
  • An annual professional development budget
  • An annual full-team retreat
