Role Overview:
The People Technology Platform Engineer, Workday is responsible for designing, building, and evolving SIE’s global Workday platform across core HR domains.
This role operates as an independent contributor within People Technology Services, owning the design, configuration architecture, and delivery of scalable Workday solutions. The role translates business needs into durable platform capabilities, ensuring solutions are reusable, maintainable, and aligned with long-term system design and governance standards.
Working within an Agile product delivery model, this role contributes to both the continuous evolution of the platform and the reliability of core services. The Platform Engineer partners closely with Product, Data, and Integration teams to deliver cohesive, end-to-end solutions across the People Technology ecosystem.
This role is suited for individuals who combine strong functional understanding with a systems approach, and who are motivated to build, improve, and scale enterprise platforms over time.
What you'll be doing:
Platform Engineering & Solution Design
- Design, configure, and implement scalable Workday platform solutions across core HR domains, including business process frameworks, organizational structures, eligibility rules, and calculated fields
- Define and apply configuration design patterns that promote reuse, scalability, and maintainability across the platform
- Translate business problems into well-structured system solutions, ensuring alignment with platform capabilities, governance standards, and long-term sustainability
- Evaluate solution options and make informed design decisions, balancing business needs, system constraints, and operational considerations
- Own end-to-end delivery of platform changes, including design, build, testing, and deployment readiness
- Ensure solutions are consistent with broader platform architecture and avoid fragmented or one-off implementations
Platform Ownership & Operations
- Act as a platform owner for assigned Workday domains (e.g., Core HCM, Absence, Compensation, Talent), accountable for system behavior, design integrity, and continuous improvement
- Maintain platform reliability through issue diagnosis and resolution, identifying root causes and implementing structural improvements to reduce recurrence
