Job Description

The Business Resilience Officer – Operational Continuity is a newly created role. The position plays a central role in setting and steering the bank’s operational continuity capabilities across business lines and functions.

You & your role

The Business Resilience unit ensures that Rabobank can anticipate, withstand and recover from disruptions in a coordinated, effective and reputation‑conscious manner. It integrates the bank’s capabilities across Crisis Management, Business Continuity Management (BCM), Operational Continuity and related disciplines to create unified future-proof resilience posture.

Business Resilience provides the structures, standards and central steering needed to maintain continuity of critical services, protect clients, and safeguard the bank’s license to operate. The unit sets the resilience governance framework, drives bank-wide preparedness activities, and ensures alignment with regulatory expectations and sectoral, national and international resilience initiatives.

Operational Continuity ensures that Rabobank can maintain delivery of critical services under stress, crisis, recovery and resolution scenarios. The function provides the end-to-end governance, lifecycle, tooling, steering and strategic service mapping that form the foundation of the bank’s operational resilience posture.

The Business Resilience Officer – Operational Continuity is accountable for developing and governing a modern, integrated operational continuity framework, ensuring Rabobank can maintain and restore critical services under a wide spectrum of scenarios.

Examples from practice

  • You are responsible for defining and maintaining the bank’s critical service inventory, impact tolerances and mapping the minimum configurations to deliver critical services

  • You have to set and govern an integrated operational continuity vision, lifecycle policies and standards

  • You ensure operational continuity requirements effectively support crisis, recovery and resolution scenarios

  • You are responsible for BCM maturity through lifecycle ownership tooling training, capability uplift and continuous benchmarking

  • You also manage regulatory alignment and key stakeholders, including audit, resolvability assessments and crisis governance

  • Provide strategic leadership and thought guidance, advising senior management and representing Rabobank in industry, regulatory, and peer forums.

  • Strengthen talent and capability through coaching, succession planning, crisis role preparedness, and a strong bank‑wide continuity network.

  • Own and govern Operational Continuity frameworks

  • Ensure bank‑wide readiness and resilience by driving exercises, maturity monitoring, risk mitigation, and seamless integration with crisis and resilience functions.

You & your talent

  • Academic degree in business, IT, risk management, continuity, or a related field.

  • 8–12+ years of experience in BCM, ITDR, operational resilience, and large, complex organizations.

  • Deep expertise in BCM, ITDR, operational continuity, and Recovery & Resolution Planning.

  • Proven experience implementing BCM frameworks and tooling, including regulatory programs.

  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to challenge the status quo.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including board‑level advisory and regulator interaction (DNB, ECB, SRB).

  • Demonstrated change leadership, influence across matrixed organizations, and transition management under pressure.

  • Leadership aligned with Rabo values: ownership, customer focus, data‑driven insights, collaboration, change agility, and strong storytelling skills.
