Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. No sponsorship is available for this position

We invite you to bring your civil engineering, land development, and project management experience into play as you lead site development work for data center and other large-scale industrial programs. This role will help expand Ramboll's civil engineering capabilities in one or more strategic U.S. geographies, with particular emphasis on local permitting knowledge, authority-having-jurisdiction (AHJ) coordination, and strong project delivery. To succeed in this role, you should have a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering, approximately 10+ years of relevant experience, and demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary site civil projects.

Are you excited about understanding, interpreting, and navigating complex projects with real-life implications? Are you motivated by creating sustainable change that benefits society and nature? Are you a curious and open-minded person?

If this sounds like you, or you’re curious to learn more, then this role could be the perfect opportunity. Join our Environment & Health Division as our new Civil Engineering Project Manager and work with us to close the gap to a sustainable future.

Your new role

Develop your excellence in Ramboll's collaborative and empowering culture. You will join a global architecture, engineering, and consultancy company that works across disciplines and geographies to solve complex client challenges. Our teams combine strong technical practice with practical, sustainable solutions and a commitment to quality.

Your key responsibilities will be:

  • Lead civil engineering and land development services for data center, mission-critical, and large industrial projects from site selection and due diligence through conceptual planning, permitting, design, and construction support.
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, risk, staffing, client communications, proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, work plans, schedules, change requests, subconsultants, and specialty vendors across multiple concurrent assignments.
  • Direct technical work involving site layout, grading and earthwork, stormwater management, drainage, utility infrastructure, access roads, erosion and sediment control, and site permitting.
  • Serve as a primary liaison with AHJs and agencies, interpret local codes, development standards, permitting pathways, and agency expectations, and coordinate multidisciplinary inputs from survey, geotechnical, environmental, wetlands, traffic, power, water, wastewater, architectural, and construction teams.
  • Review and approve technical memoranda, calculations, plans, specifications, permitting packages, and client deliverables; mentor project engineers and CAD staff while supporting client development, growth initiatives, and Ramboll’s local presence in target data center markets.

Qualifications

About you

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution, with approximately 10+ years of relevant civil/site engineering experience and responsibility for project delivery and client coordination.
  • Professional Engineer license strongly preferred, with ability to obtain licensure by comity in one or more target states expected.
  • Substantial experience with land development and site civil design for large, complex sites, including industrial, logistics, advanced manufacturing, or mission-critical projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with AHJs, negotiating permitting requirements, responding to review comments, and guiding projects through local approval processes, with strong knowledge of grading, drainage, stormwater management, utilities, roadway/access design, erosion and sediment control, and civil permitting.
  • Proven project management and leadership skills, including scope and fee development, budget and schedule control, risk management, client communication, distributed team coordination, and AutoCAD Civil 3D/CAD-based design review; direct data center experience and agency relationships in Pennsylvania, Washington, Texas, or Louisiana are strongly preferred.

Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include:

  • Strong ownership of project outcomes with a practical, solutions-oriented approach and sound professional judgment.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical issues effectively to clients and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial judgment with disciplined management of project scope, schedule, budget, and risk.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands while maintaining quality, responsiveness, safety, and client focus.
  • Collaborative leadership style with a strong commitment to mentoring, staff development, teamwork, and quality.
