About the role:

As Senior Manager Marketplace Data Analytics & Operational Excellence, you will have the opportunity to build and shape a growing capability at the heart of our Marketplace organization. You will develop a multidisciplinary team combining Data Analytics and Operational Excellence, create a vision for how we use data to steer our Marketplace, and turn insights into scalable improvements for our teams, sellers, and customers.

Based on-site in Cologne or Berlin, you will work closely with our Executive Director Marketplace and collaborate across Marketplace, Product, Tech, Data/AI, Finance, and Operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys building structures and capabilities while staying close to analytics and high-impact improvement projects.

About the tech stack:

You will work within an analytics and AI ecosystem including SQL, Power BI, Python, Databricks and DBT, alongside AI-powered tools and approaches such as Claude, ChatGPT and GitHub Copilot. Automation – including agentic and non-agentic approaches – is an important part of how we want to further scale Marketplace operations.

About your tasks:

• Build and develop our Marketplace Data Analytics & Operational Excellence capability: Shape the vision and organizational setup of the team, develop specialists across analytics, AI, automation and operational excellence, and establish best practices that can scale with our Marketplace.
• Turn Marketplace data into business impact: Own performance steering and develop KPI frameworks, reporting and analytical deep dives that make performance drivers transparent. You will help teams understand topics such as seller performance, pricing and delivery times and translate insights into concrete recommendations.
• Scale and improve Marketplace operations: Identify opportunities across end-to-end processes and turn them into measurable improvements through process optimization, automation and AI-enabled solutions. You will help us move from individual initiatives towards scalable ways of working across the Marketplace organization.
• Connect data, business and technology: Bring together Marketplace teams and experts from Product, Tech, Data/AI, Finance and Operations, aligning priorities and transforming complex analytical and operational questions into clear recommendations for decision-making.
• Combine leadership with hands-on expertise: Coach and develop your growing team while remaining close to selected analytics and operational excellence projects yourself. You will establish standards and governance for performance management and continuous improvement while helping shape the future direction of the function.

Qualifications

About you:

• You bring 5+ years of relevant experience in Data Analytics, Operational Excellence, Consulting or a related field, ideally within e-commerce or a marketplace environment, and have already worked on analytics projects with tangible business impact.
• You have gained leadership experience, ideally around two years or more, developing employees or project teams, and you enjoy building a function rather than simply managing an established setup.
• You combine strong business understanding with solid knowledge of performance management, KPI frameworks, forecasting, advanced analytics and process optimization. You are comfortable working with analytics ecosystems such as SQL and Power BI and have a strong interest in using AI and automation to improve how teams work and make decisions.
• You can turn complex data into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders and enjoy working across business and technical teams in an international environment. English is required; German is a plus.
