Masonry Shop Architect
Our client is an established commercial masonry contractor in the eastern United States. They self-perform the full masonry scope on commercial and institutional work: CMU, clay brick, cast stone and precast, stone veneer, terracotta, thin veneer, and rain screen systems, along with the through-wall flashing, air barrier, and insulation that keeps those walls dry.
You turn the architect's and engineer's documents into drawings a mason can actually build from, and those packages go out to the general contractor, the architect, and the engineer for approval.
The real value of this seat is not drafting speed. It is catching the conflict between the architectural set and the structural set before it reaches the field, and knowing the difference between a question you can answer and one that needs an RFI. You work a US Eastern schedule, largely on your own, with nobody looking over your shoulder. The pay reflects the judgement, not the keystrokes.
Key Responsibilities
Masonry Shop Drawings
- Prepare masonry shop drawings for commercial projects: plans, elevations, sections, details, and enlarged views.
- Detail CMU, brick, stone, veneer, reinforced masonry, and other masonry systems.
- Show coursing, wall types, openings, control and expansion joints, reinforcing, embeds, flashing, shelf angles, and lintels.
- Develop layouts for masonry walls, partitions, elevations, and
