We are seeking a Field Application Engineering looking to grow on a world-class technical sales engineering organization focused on our small-medium portfolio. The successful candidate will combine deep technical expertise in ECAD and electronic data management with strong autonomy capabilities to drive customer success, market adoption, and business growth.

Working across Sales, Marketing, Product Management, and Engineering, you will guide technical customer engagements and advocate for their requirements throughout the product lifecycle. This highly demanding role requires strategic thinking, technical leadership, and the ability to influence buyers key decisions while building trusted relationships with customers worldwide. Travel of up to 30% is expected.

Key Competencies:

  • Successful execution of technical sales initiatives across EMEA regions for the assigned product portfolio.
  • Communicate complex technical solutions in terms of measurable business value, productivity gains, risk reduction, and strategic outcomes.
  • Work alongside Sales and Account Managers to execute strategic account plans and expand long-term business opportunities.
  • Define evaluation goals and customer success criteria while positioning our solutions against competing alternatives.
  • Exceptionally knowledge of the Electronic Design industry, its products and competitive landscape
  • Ability to understand and clearly communicate Altium’s Agile Teams goals and objectives
  • Possess ability to be empathetic, understand specific customer requirements, how they think, understand what  their goals are, why an ECAD Data Management solution is important to their business, and perform a product value pitch to address their specific needs
  • Be proactive and leverage ECAD-specific technical expertise, project management and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams

The day in the life of the Field Applications Engineer:

  • Work closely with Sales Account Managers, Solution Architect and Product Managers to understand customer requirements and adequate a technical pitch of our solution to support the customers business strategy.
  • Perform Discovery calls to understand the current customer environment, business goals, technical challenges.
  • Manage the technical strategy, ensuring the customer’s requirements and expectations are properly set.
  • Collaborate with R&D/engineering teams to identify and resolve product/performance issues.
  • Participate in management meetings and represent the voice of the customer.
  • Use in-depth knowledge of client, industry, business processes, and deep knowledge of the product and technical expertise to drive and increase adoption and usage of Altium Agile Teams Solutions.
  • Ability to create technical presentations and demonstrations to target individual customers on an as needed basis.
  • Travel to customer sites as needed to better understand requirements and/or provide onsite technical presentations.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of experience in ECAD presales engagements, customer success, account management, and/or a client-facing role in Electronic Design Automation (EDA) 
  • Experience working in an ECAD presales role or related position
  • Languages: You need to speak English & German at the fluent level (at least C1) + one other Europe languages (e.g. Italian, French, Turkish, etc.)
  • Experience with ECAD tools, including schematic and PCB design, project data management, library/component management, PLM integration, MCAD Collaboration, process definition and management, workflows and signal integrity analysis
  • Ability to engage customers at the business level to drive alignment, and execution of ECAD strategy
  • Ability to be highly effective in a team and matrix management organization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Bachelors/Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent degree and experience
  • Ability to travel 30%
