Project Engineer

We are seeking a Project Engineer to manage the design, planning, and execution of assigned projects, ensuring successful delivery within approved timelines, budgets, and quality standards. The successful candidate will review production plans and performance to ensure targets are achieved, identify potential risks, and coordinate the development of alternative plans and project modifications to support operational efficiency and business objectives.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Design and develop infrastructure engineering solutions that meet operational and project requirements, including the preparation of project plans, specifications, engineering designs, and technical solutions.

• Provide technical support to Senior Project Engineering activities, reviewing and evaluating engineering designs, identifying improvement opportunities, and providing engineering guidance to operations and project teams.

• Lead project planning and controls, including developing and monitoring project schedules, milestones, budgets, cost controls, reporting systems, and procedures to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

• Manage infrastructure projects throughout the project lifecycle, from scoping, pre-feasibility, and feasibility studies through design, execution, commissioning, handover, and close-out, including economic evaluations and stakeholder reviews.

• Coordinate project execution and design implementation, working closely with contractors, engineering teams, operations, and other stakeholders to ensure designs and project requirements are effectively implemented.

• Manage procurement and contracting activities, including technical specifications, long-lead material and equipment procurement, tendering, technical bid evaluations, contract administration, cost monitoring, and contractor performance management.

• Oversee tailings management and related compliance activities, including inspections, monitoring, reporting, and ensuring that applicable technical, operational, environmental, and regulatory requirements are met.

• Lead commissioning, handover, and project performance activities, including stakeholder review meetings, performance reporting, identification of lessons learned, and ensuring completed infrastructure is safely and effectively transitioned to operations.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mining, Civil, Geotechnical, or a related field).

• Minimum of 3–5 years of engineering and project management experience.

• Knowledge of tailings management, monitoring, and related industry practices.

• Sound understanding of engineering, geology, and mining operations.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, MineSight, Global Mapper, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.

• Understanding of geostatistical methods and orebody modeling.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced multicultural environment.

• Willingness to work in both Brokopondo and Paramaribo on a rotational schedule of 14 days on duty followed by 7 days off.

• If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goedgedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
