Reliability Engineer Mill Equipment
The Equipment Engineer is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient performance of mechanical equipment within the concentrator plant. The role provides technical leadership across equipment maintenance, reliability, improvement, and asset management, while driving standardized maintenance practices and continuous improvement initiatives. By analyzing equipment performance, resolving complex technical issues, optimizing maintenance strategies, and supporting equipment projects from procurement through commissioning, the role helps maximize equipment availability, minimize downtime and maintenance costs, and support stable production. The Equipment Engineer works closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to ensure equipment and asset management practices align with production requirements, safety standards, and the long-term objectives of Rosebel Gold Mines.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Develop and optimize equipment management systems for the concentrator plant, ensuring standardized maintenance processes, technical standards, and reliable mechanical equipment performance.
Provide technical leadership and support to plant operations and maintenance teams by diagnosing complex equipment issues, identifying root causes, and implementing practical solutions that support safe, stable, and efficient production.
Plan and coordinate equipment maintenance, overhauls, and preservation activities, including manpower planning and technical training to strengthen the knowledge, skills, and capabilities of maintenance teams.
Lead equipment improvement and reliability initiatives by identifying performance bottlenecks, analyzing equipment and maintenance data, developing improvement solutions, preparing technical and business justifications, and supporting equipment upgrades and plant renovations.
Coordinate equipment procurement, installation, commissioning, and acceptance, ensuring equipment meets operational and technical requirements and that the required spare parts, technical documentation, and maintenance resources are available.
Drive equipment reliability and maintenance optimization by monitoring equipment performance, analyzing failure trends, implementing preventive and predictive maintenance strategies, and identifying opportunities to reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to ensure equipment-related decisions support production requirements, safety standards, cost efficiency, and long-term asset performance.
Promote a strong culture of safety, continuous improvement, and technical excellence by applying engineering best practices, supporting knowledge sharing, and ensuring compliance with company standards, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Equipment Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Less than 10 years of relevant experience in equipment maintenance, reliability engineering, or fixed plant operations, preferably within the mining or mineral processing industry.
Strong knowledge of mechanical equipment maintenance, reliability, and lifecycle management.
Experience with maintenance planning, equipment improvement projects, and technical problem-solving.
Good understanding of maintenance standards, HSE requirements, and engineering practices.
Strong analytical, planning, communication, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in relevant engineering, maintenance management, and digital tools.
Ability to work effectively with maintenance, operations, planning, metallurgy, contractors, and equipment suppliers
Proficiency in multiple languages, preferably Chinese, English, and Dutch, with the ability to use English as the primary working language for technical communication, document review, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.
Willingness to work in Brokopondo on a rotational schedule of 14 days of work followed by 7 days break
If selected, you will be required to submit a Police Clearance Certificate (“Bewijs van Goed Gedrag”). Please initiate the request at your respective District Commissariat.
