As part of Salomon’s Innovation team, you will explore societal, cultural, technological, and environmental shifts to identify new innovation opportunities. Your goal: understand tomorrow’s needs and turn your research into actionable recommendations for our products, brand, and experiences.

1. Decode Trends and Emerging Behaviors

  • Monitor societal, cultural, technological, and environmental trends worldwide.
  • Identify emerging behaviors, communities, and weak signals that could transform sports participation and outdoor lifestyles.
  • Analyze developments in sport, wellness, health, sustainability, and evolving consumer expectations.
  • Benchmark startups, competitors, and players from other industries to identify innovative approaches.

2. Understand Consumers and Their Expectations

  • Contribute to the design and implementation of qualitative and quantitative consumer research.
  • Help prepare and conduct interviews, analyze surveys, and explore reports and databases.
  • Observe communities and analyze online conversations to better understand consumer motivations, usage patterns, and values.
  • Compare behaviors and expectations across generations, cultures, and international markets.

3. Envision Possible Futures

  • Develop consumer profiles and personas illustrating how lifestyles and sporting habits may evolve.
  • Build forward-looking scenarios to explore possible futures for sport and the outdoor industry.
  • Identify long-term opportunities for new products, services, experiences, and communities.
  • Turn research findings into strategic insights and actionable recommendations.

4. Share Insights and Inspire Innovation

  • Create engaging visual presentations and reports that synthesize key trends and insights.
  • Present your analyses and recommendations to the Innovation, Product, Design, Brand, and Consumer Insights teams.
  • Contribute to collaborative workshops to explore new innovation opportunities and support strategic thinking.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

Education: You are currently pursuing a Master’s degree (Bac+4/5 equivalent) in Marketing, Consumer Research, Sociology, Social Sciences, Strategy, Innovation, or a related field.

Skills:

  • You have initial academic or professional experience in consumer research, trend analysis, market research, qualitative or quantitative research, or strategic foresight.
  • You can analyze and synthesize diverse sources of information, identify emerging trends, and turn your findings into relevant recommendations.
  • You are comfortable creating visual presentations and communicating research findings.

Soft Skills:

  • Intellectual curiosity and a global mindset.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Creativity and the ability to connect ideas across different fields.
  • Excellent communication and synthesis skills.
  • Autonomy, initiative, and a collaborative mindset.

Languages: English – C1 level.

IT Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.

Profile: You are interested in societal shifts, consumer behavior, and emerging sports and outdoor cultures. You enjoy challenging assumptions, identifying weak signals, and imagining future behaviors and lifestyles. International experience or additional language skills would be a plus.

Additional Information

Duration: 6 months

Starting date: January/February 2027

Location: Annecy, France

Contract type: An internship agreement (convention de stage) from your school or university is required, and your internship must be part of your study programme. Agreements not backed by active enrolment cannot be accepted.

  • Remote work possible after your first month.
  • Flexible hours: arrive between 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. with a flexible end to the day, so you can balance your weeks at school and in the company.

Administrative conditions:

This internship is covered by a tripartite training agreement (convention de stage) between you, your school, and the company. Applicants who are EU nationals can apply without any specific formality. Applicants from outside the EU must hold, as of the start date, a valid residence permit or visa authorising them to complete a school-sanctioned internship in France.

Compensation: 

At Salomon, internship allowances are broken down as follows: 

  • Internship allowances:
    • High school diploma to bachelor's degree: €700 gross
    • Master's degree: €950 gross
    • Doctorate: €1,200 gross
  • Housing allowance: €300 housing assistance upon presentation of a lease agreement for a property located within 50 km of the head office and monthly receipts.
