MSU (Medical Surgical Unit) Veterinary Assistants play a vital role at the Schwarzman Animal Medical Center. They work alongside our veterinarians and veterinary technicians to provide comfort and care for all stable patients throughout the hospital. MSU veterinary assistants help keep our inpatients clean and comfortable, restrain patients for treatments and minor procedures, and run point of care laboratory tests. In MSU, assistants play a vital role in infection control and prevention by maintaining an organized, sanitary healing environment. MSU (Medical Surgical Unit) Veterinary Assistants can take advantage of our career ladder to learn and grow into advanced positions like surgical instrument veterinary assistants, operating room veterinary assistants, and patient care assistants. We also offer tuition assistance to employees wanting to continue their educational goals and the ability to earn externship hours for accredited veterinary technology programs. Overnight differentials apply as an additional 10% of base pay per hour plus a $1.50/hr overnight stipend.
