Our Construction Materials Testing (CMT) division supports critical infrastructure, mining, and construction projects through reliable, NATA accredited testing in line with Australian and international standards.

Job Description

Build your career in construction materials testing with a global industry leader. Join our team in a practical, field-focused role where your soils testing experience will support construction and infrastructure projects.

As a Geotechnician, you will work across field and laboratory environments, deliver accurate results and provide reliable service to our clients.
This is a full-time position working Monday to Friday role, it is based in Malaga and requires flexibility to undertake short regional assignments when operationally required.

Key responsibilities include however not limited to:

• Conduct soils field testing, including DCP, PSP and NDM testing.
• Collect, prepare, log and test construction material samples.
• Perform routine laboratory and field testing in line with relevant standards.
• Set up, calibrate, maintain and clean testing equipment.
• Review test data and prepare clear, accurate reports.
• Communicate professionally with clients and respond to testing requirements.
• Contribute to safe work practices, quality outcomes and continuous improvement.
• Support and guide junior technicians when required.

Qualifications

To be successful you will need:

• Minimum NATA Supervisory Level 2, with Level 3 or higher highly desirable, or qualifications and experience demonstrating eligibility for the applicable supervisory level.
• Current Nuclear Density Gauge licence and demonstrated experience performing nuclear field density testing.
• Extensive practical experience in soil field and laboratory testing, including compaction control and associated soil testing.
• Strong experience in field sampling, sample selection and applicable sampling requirements.
• Demonstrated competency in relevant Australian Standards, Main Roads WA test methods and CMT procedures.
• Sound understanding of NATA/ISO 17025 requirements, quality assurance, equipment checks, test records and reporting requirements.
• Ability to work independently, troubleshoot testing issues and maintain technical and quality requirements without continuous supervision.
• Ability and willingness to undertake short-term regional assignments and work from project/Annex laboratories when required.
• Current Australian driver's licence.

Highly Desirable

• Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques or another qualification applicable to Construction Materials Testing.
• NATA Supervisory Level 3 or higher with demonstrated experience providing technical control of a CMT laboratory.
• Experience operating project or Annex laboratories.
• Broad competency across soil testing including PSD, Atterberg Limits, MDD/MMDD, CBR, field density and sampling.
