Job Description

You will be an analytical and detail-oriented individual with a passion for data and an interest in transport, research and public policy.
You will bring:
- Hours: 37 hours per week (full time)
- Contract: Permanent
- Salary: Grade 6 - £32,053 - £34,950
- Location: Sheffield (hybrid working)

We are looking for a curious and analytical Transport Data Analyst to join our Insight Team and help shape the future of transport across South Yorkshire.
This role will support the delivery of research, analysis and reporting activities across a range of transport programmes, including public transport, active travel and wider strategic transport priorities. Working with colleagues across SYMCA, you will help ensure that decisions are informed by robust data, evidence and insight.

Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Lead Transport Research & Data Analyst, you will support the collection, analysis and interpretation of transport data, helping to provide evidence that informs policy, planning and service improvements.
In this role, you will:
- Support the delivery of transport research, analysis and reporting activities
- Maintain and update transport datasets, ensuring information is accurate and reliable
- Assist with customer research, consultations, surveys and engagement activities
- Analyse data from a variety of sources and contribute to performance reporting and dashboards
- Support monitoring of public transport, active travel and other transport programmes
- Produce reports, visualisations and insights that support decision-making and service improvement
- Respond to information requests and contribute to evidence used in transport strategies and programmes
- Apply quality assurance processes to ensure data and analysis are accurate and consistent
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and partners to support evidence-based decision-making
- Ensure data is managed in line with relevant legislation, policies and best practice

Skills & Knowledge
You will be an analytical and detail-oriented individual with a passion for data and an interest in transport, research and public policy.
You will bring:
- Experience or knowledge of data analysis, research or statistical techniques gained through education or employment
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and present data clearly
- Experience using Excel and an interest in developing skills in analytical and business intelligence tools
- The ability to present findings through reports, charts, dashboards and other visual formats
- Experience of working with survey data, customer insight or performance information
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain data and insights to a range of audiences
- A collaborative approach and the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- A commitment to accuracy, quality and continuous improvement
