Senior Motion Designer
STLabs is an AI service management platform that resolves employee requests end-to-end, grounded in a living model of the enterprise. This matters because we're able to resolve requests with full context - the people, systems, services, and policies that define how an organization actually runs. Requests that used to take days of back-and-forth resolve in minutes, right where employees already work.
About the Role
We're looking for our first full-time motion designer to help showcase to the world what our tools can do. You'll create the videos we publish across the web and socials, taking each from concept to final cut. You’ll develop a mixture of product walkthroughs, voiceover pieces, and customer and team interviews.
This is a hands-on, senior role. You need to be comfortable producing exciting, polished product animations in After Effects as well as running a camera when needed for interviews. You’ll turn software features into clear, compelling visual stories. You'll coordinate with our Design and Marketing leaders to develop projects, set the creative and technical standard for our motion and video work, and help shape how the function grows. The role is based in-person in our New York City office.
Responsibilities
You will…
Own video projects end-to-end, from concept and storyboarding through production, editing, motion design and final delivery.
Create motion-graphics-led product content, including feature explainers, UI animations, launch videos and tutorials that make our software easy to understand and feel exciting to use.
Plan and shoot interviews, handling cameras, lighting and audio when needed.
Edit and package content for multiple formats and platforms, including the website, YouTube, LinkedIn, Instagram and X, adapting aspect ratios, pacing and content for each
Partner with Marketing and Design leaders to translate launches, features and campaigns into a clear content development schedule, managing your deadlines independently
Establish the visual language for our video work, including motion templates, graphics packages and brand guidelines for video.
Build efficient, repeatable workflows for review and approval, and asset libraries so the team can produce more with consistent, high quality.
Manage external resources when projects call for them, such as freelancers, voice talent, music licensing and equipment rentals. Comfort managing budgets for these is a big plus.
Track how content performs and use what you learn to improve future work.
Qualifications
You should have…
6–10 years of hands-on professional experience editing and animating video, with previous experience in a senior/lead role.
Expert-level post-production skills, especially motion graphics and animation in Adobe After Effects, plus strong editing skills in traditional and AI editing tools.
Experience with interactive UI motion design tools/frameworks like Lottie and Rive is a plus
Sharp eye for design, motion, typography and brand aesthetics, and comfort collaborating closely with Designers and Product teams.
Competent camera skills—you can shoot high-quality interviews and b-roll, including experience with lighting and audio.
Experience creating content for professional or creative software tools, or a comparable technical product, including animating UI and explaining software workflows clearly.
Proven ability to work autonomously, manage multiple projects at once and take work from a rough idea to a finished piece with minimal oversight.
Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to write or shape scripts, structure narratives and edit for clarity and pace.
Fluency in current web and social video formats and best practices across platforms.
Clear communicator who can take feedback well, sell creative decisions and bring stakeholders along.
Ability to work in-person in our New York City office.
A portfolio of work is required. Please include examples of motion graphics, product or software-focused content and interview-based pieces, noting your specific role on each.
