Where do you fit in?
We have a rare opportunity for experienced Driver Trainers to join our dynamic training and development team, based in East London and South East London. The remit of this role is vital in ensuring our bus drivers are trained to the highest driving standards, as well as in customer service, allowing our people to do what they do best – proud to serve their community.
The Driver Trainer’s primary responsibility will be the delivery of a practical driver training to PCV driving standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Instructing, mentoring and assessing new colleagues to the standard required to attain a PCV licence and to ensure competence in driving for a public service.
- Carrying out vehicle familiarisation, assessment drives and corrective training.
- Working an early and late shift system between the hours of 0600 and 2255; usually Mondays to Fridays.
- Remaining abreast of legislative changes that may affect PCV licence acquisition.
- A responsibility of ensuring trainee drivers comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act, internal company policies and additional relevant legislation such as COSHH and the working time regulations.
- Leading by example and embedding our core values and behaviours by setting the standards from day one and actively promoting our dignity in the workplace and inclusive culture.
Skills & Experience:
- A previous remit of delivering PCV driver training for a transport operator, preferably with practical experience of driving such vehicles – please note the successful candidate(s) must hold a full PCV licence.
- An understanding of health and safety, PCV UK driving regulations and additionally a knowledge of standards required via TfL, the DVLA and City and Guilds.
- An NVQ Level 3 in Driving Instruction or equivalent or a proven track record as a PCV Driving Instructor/Trainer.
