About Strava

Strava is the app for active people. With over 200 million athletes in more than 185 countries, it’s more than tracking workouts—it’s where people make progress together, from new habits to new personal bests. No matter your sport or how you track it, Strava’s got you covered. Find your crew, crush your goals, and make every effort count. Start your journey with Strava today.

Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.

About This Role

We’re looking for a Senior Android Engineer to join our Trust & Safety engineering team. This team is responsible for developing the Trust & Safety platform at Strava, fostering a trustworthy environment and a safe experience for our users. As a Senior Android Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners to design, develop, and optimize features that impact millions of users worldwide. You will help shape the future of our mobile experience and contribute to the evolution of Strava’s product.

We follow a flexible hybrid model that translates to more than half of your time on-site in our San Francisco office — three days per week.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own Android on the Trust & Safety team, setting the technical direction and shipping features that reach millions of athletes.

  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and back-end/iOS engineers to build solutions like abuse reporting, privacy controls, and the U18 experience.

  • Work alongside a close community of peers in a hybrid work environment.

  • Mentor engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and set the bar for Android quality across the company.

  • Use the latest AI tools to find faster, smarter ways to build and ship software.

  • Grow into back-end and front-end work over time as your scope on the team expands.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • 5+ years experience building Android applications in a production environment using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

  • Familiarity with Coroutines and Room, and experience designing or consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.

  • Solid Android fundamentals (architecture patterns, performance, testing) and a track record of shipping features end-to-end.

  • A product-focused mindset; you work with the team to solve real business problems, not just execute tickets.

  • Interest or willingness to grow into server-side and web front-end work as your scope expands.
