Environmental Specialist job is available with The City of Fort Worth Water Department Customer Care. This position is with the Industrial Wastewater Monitoring team in the Pretreatment section. This position would be responsible for conducting inspections and collecting wastewater samples, performing field analysis, assist staff with scheduled and random sampling and inspections of industries.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with major course work in biology, chemistry, environmental science. No experience required
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in investigation, monitoring, and enforcement of environmental quality rules and regulations
- One or more years of experience in the field of water, wastewater or industrial pretreatment permitting and oversight
- Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment and collection / distribution systems
- One or more years of field experience in collection of wastewater samples at industrial facilities or with sewer/stormwater systems
The Environmental Specialist job responsibilities include:
- Collects wastewater samples at industrial facilities and/or various field sites
- Performs field analysis, preservation of wastewater samples and documentation
- Operates in a team environment, both with an assigned team member and independently
- Processes sample related lab data
- Assists with wastewater investigations

Working Conditions and Physical Demand
Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically require touching, talking, hearing, seeing, grasping, standing, walking and repetitive motions.
Medium Work – Depending on assignment, positions in this class typically exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects
