The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) provides direct care, support, and encouragement to patients in a residential behavioral health setting. In this role, you’ll help create a safe, supportive, and recovery-focused environment while working closely with nursing, clinical, and case management teams.

As a BHT, you’ll have an opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients while helping them navigate their daily routines and treatment experience. You’ll monitor patient well-being, promote engagement, support clinical programming, and respond appropriately to changing patient needs.
What You’ll Do
- Perform patient safety checks, room checks, and shift hand-offs to help maintain a safe environment.
- Support the admission process, including belongings searches, documentation, and orientation of new patients.
- Monitor and engage patients during meals, groups, recreational activities, and community interactions.
- Build rapport with patients while encouraging participation in treatment and daily activities.
- Assist nursing staff with vital signs, breathalyzer testing, urine drug screens, pulse oximetry, and other competency-based procedures.
- Observe and report changes in patient behavior, mood, or safety concerns
