Towne Square Academy - Riverdale is looking for an energetic, dependable, and engaging Afterschool Teacher to work with our school-age children, ages 7 to 13.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced childcare professional who enjoys working with older children and knows how to create an environment that is structured, positive, fun, and age-appropriate.

Our school-age students need more than supervision after school. They need an educator who can build relationships, keep them engaged, establish expectations, and create a space where they can unwind, connect, learn, and enjoy the rest of their day.

What You'll Do

As an Afterschool Teacher, you will:

• Supervise and engage children ages 7 to 13 during the afterschool program
• Create a safe, structured, positive, and welcoming environment
• Plan and lead age-appropriate games, activities, projects, and enrichment experiences
• Support homework, reading, and other academic activities as appropriate
• Build positive relationships with students while maintaining clear expectations and boundaries
• Encourage teamwork, independence, responsibility, and positive peer relationships
• Use positive guidance and age-appropriate behavior management strategies
• Maintain active supervision and prioritize children's safety
• Support afternoon snacks, transitions, and daily routines
• Maintain a clean and organized program space
• Communicate professionally with families, coworkers, and school leadership
• Follow all school, health, safety, and applicable childcare requirements
• Work collaboratively with the school team to create a positive experience for children and families

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who can connect with school-age children while providing the consistency and structure they need.

Required Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of childcare experience
• Experience working in a licensed childcare environment preferred
• Ability to work Monday through Friday, approximately 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM
• Ability to successfully complete required employment and background screening requirements
• Dependable attendance and reliable transportation
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills

No degree or additional certification is required for this position.
