Job Description

Main Purpose :

The HSE Systems, Governance & Assurance Lead is responsible for the global governance and continuous improvement of Impala Terminals Group's HSE management systems, data, digital platforms and assurance programmes. Reporting to Global Head of HSE, the role works in partnership with regional and functional HSE/operational leaders to establish consistent standards, strengthen data integrity and drive assurance effectiveness across the organization.

As a member of the Global HSE Team, the role provides reliable insights to support risk management, operational safety, regulatory compliance, reporting and informed decision-making, while promoting organizational learning and ensuring HSE information is appropriately controlled, secure and auditable.

Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Own and continuously improve the global framework for HSE systems, data, reporting and assurance, including the digital platforms supporting incidents, investigations, audits, risk, training, compliance and reporting.
  • Develop dashboards, automated reporting and analytics that provide leaders with meaningful performance, risk and leading-indicator insights.
  • Lead the global, risk-based HSE assurance programme and ensure findings and corrective actions are effectively tracked and closed.
  • Support consistent application of HSE standards and management systems across regions, including ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify workflows, automate manual processes and improve the quality and efficiency of HSE reporting.
  • Analyze trends, assurance findings and recurring issues to support continuous improvement and organizational learning.
  • Partner with Operations, ESG, IT, HR, Security and regional HSE teams on systems, data and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead system implementations, upgrades and integrations, including coordination with technology vendors.
  • Provide guidance and training to HSE teams, system users and data owners.
  • Support the development and implementation of global HSE strategies, objectives and campaigns.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in occupational health and safety, environmental management, engineering, information systems, data management or a related discipline.
  • At least 5 years’ relevant experience in HSE systems, governance or assurance
  • Experience in a high-risk industry such as terminals, logistics, oil and gas, construction, mining, aviation or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated experience developing or improving HSE management systems and digital platforms.
  • Experience planning and delivering HSE assurance programmes across multiple sites, business units or countries.
  • Demonstrated capability in data governance, analytics, system configuration and management reporting.
  • Experience managing system implementations, upgrades, integrations or technology vendors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Power BI or comparable reporting and visualisation tools.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with strong written, verbal, presentation and stakeholder-communication skills

Desirable experience and qualifications

  • Working knowledge of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and their application within an operational management system.
  • Recognized HSE Lead Auditor qualification.
  • Experience with workflow automation
  • Experience working in a global, multilingual or matrix organization
