ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Freight Management & Execution
- Assist in managing drayage shipments from booking through delivery.
- Coordinate pickup and delivery schedules with customers and carriers.
- Monitor shipment activity and provide proactive updates.
- Ensure shipment documentation is accurate and complete.
- Learn port, rail, container, and drayage-specific operations and terminology.
Customer & Carrier Management
- Develop relationships with customers and carrier partners.
- Respond to customer and carrier inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Assist with carrier sourcing and capacity development activities.
- Support rate procurement and quoting activities.
Problem Resolution
- Identify shipment delays, service failures, and operational risks.
- Work with Logistics Managers to develop and implement solutions.
- Assist customers and carriers in resolving shipment issues.
- Escalate significant service concerns appropriately.
Financial & Performance Management
- Assist in reviewing shipment profitability and carrier costs.
- Verify carrier charges and supporting documentation.
- Support achievement of team revenue and profitability goals.
- Maintain accurate data to support operational reporting and KPI tracking.
Professional Development
- Complete training and skill development activities designed to prepare for independent freight management.
- Develop proficiency in transportation systems, customer communications, and carrier management.
- Demonstrate increasing autonomy and ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Participates in special projects and handles all other assigned duties as required.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
