Job Description
Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated, passionate, and fully qualified Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) for a full-time, in-person position for the upcoming 2026–2027 school year. In this role, you will provide critical instructional support, accommodations, and advocacy for students aged 0 to 21 who are blind or visually impaired. You will work collaboratively with families, classroom teachers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure our students have equal access to their educational environments and curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct Instruction: Provide individualized instruction to students with visual impairments in areas such as braille reading/writing, assistive technology, visual efficiency, and the Expanded Core Curriculum (ECC).
- IEP Management: Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments; write, implement, and monitor progress on Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
- Collaboration & Consultation: Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and parents to adapt classroom materials, modify assignments, and implement necessary accommodations.
- Advocacy & Support: Ensure classroom environments are physically and instructionally accessible for students with visual impairments.
