Developer Experience (DevEx) AI Engineering Intern - Master's
Role Summary:
PlayStation's ProTooling team builds internal tools and services that help engineers plan, develop, and deliver software more effectively. We are applying AI to practical developer workflows, including knowledge retrieval, code understanding, and task automation. As an AI Engineer Intern, you'll work with experienced engineers to prototype and evaluate AI-enabled tools, integrate them with engineering systems, and measure their usefulness, reliability, and responsible use.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Prototype AI-assisted features and agent workflows for internal developer tools, including code understanding, knowledge retrieval, task automation, and engineering insights.
- Build proof-of-concept services and integrations that connect AI models with source control, work tracking, documentation, and continuous integration systems.
- Evaluate model quality, latency, cost, and failure modes; create repeatable test sets and use results to guide design decisions.
- Develop data ingestion and retrieval pipelines for technical content, with attention to permissions, traceability, and data quality.
- Collaborate with engineers and product partners to define user problems, demo progress, document decisions, and turn successful prototypes into maintainable solutions.
What We're Looking For:
- Pursuing a master's or doctoral degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or a related field, with graduation expected between December 2027 and Spring 2028.
- Strong Python skills and a solid foundation in software design, data structures, debugging, and testing.
- Hands-on experience building or evaluating machine learning or large language model applications through research, coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with REST APIs, Git, cloud services, and data stores; experience with retrieval systems or vector search is a plus.
- Ability to explain technical choices clearly, incorporate feedback, and work effectively with a collaborative engineering team.
- Interest in developer productivity and responsible AI, with a willingness to learn unfamiliar systems and tools.
Eligibility:
- Students with expected graduation between May 2026 and December 2029 from an accredited university. Advanced Degree - Master's
- Able to work during one of the following periods: May 17th - August 6th or June 14th - September 3rd. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.
- Must be available for the entire 12-week internship period.

Our intern positions offer a fixed hourly pay rate. Please note that the pay rate is exclusive to the internship period and may not reflect what pay may look like following the completion of an internship.
