Data Platform Engineer (Cloudera Admin)

As a Data Platform Engineer (Cloudera Admin), you will play a central role in supporting and evolving Cloudera-based environments, partnering across platform and infrastructure needs to help keep systems secure, resilient, and performant.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, administer, and maintain Cloudera CDH/CDP infrastructure for enterprise data platforms.
• Install, configure, upgrade, patch, monitor, and troubleshoot Cloudera Hadoop clusters using Cloudera Manager.
• Administer and support Hadoop ecosystem components including HDFS, YARN, Hive, Impala, HBase, Spark, and Kafka.
• Perform cluster capacity planning, performance tuning, resource optimization, and scalability improvements.
• Provide hands-on production support and troubleshooting, including root cause analysis and resolution of platform incidents.
• Implement and maintain high-availability and resilient platform configurations.
• Support data backup, disaster recovery, replication, and recovery procedures.
• Implement and maintain platform security controls, including Kerberos and Apache Ranger, with Sentry knowledge as an advantage.
• Support Kafka administration, configuration, monitoring, and integration within distributed data environments.
• Implement automation and support CI/CD pipelines to improve platform deployment and operational efficiency.
• Work with Kubernetes and containerization technologies to support modern data platform environments.
• Monitor platform health, availability, and performance using tools such as Dynatrace and Grafana.
• Identify performance bottlenecks and proactively optimize infrastructure and workload utilization.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• 3–5 years of hands-on Cloudera CDH/CDP administration experience.
• Hands-on production support and troubleshooting experience in Cloudera/Hadoop environments.
• Hands-on experience designing and supporting high-availability, backup, replication, and disaster recovery capabilities in Cloudera/Hadoop environments.
• Strong experience working with core Hadoop ecosystem components, including HDFS, YARN, Hive, and Impala.
• General monitoring and observability experience.
• Eligibility to work in Egypt.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Spark, Kafka, and HBase.
• Hands-on skills with Kerberos and Apache Ranger.
• Experience with CI/CD and automation.
• Experience in banking environments.
