Job Description

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take 
  • personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
  • Develop discipline-specific plans/systems to reduce exposure to discipline-specific risks.
  • Monitor and ensure effectiveness of discipline Safety & Health systems.
  • Provide Mining-specific information as input to the development of the Life of Asset Plan and the 
  • Resource Development Plan.
  • Break down Group requirements and performance targets to site level, translate into site-specific targets and budgets and communicate to on-site teams
  • Review and sign off technical plans and production inputs for budgets and the MOP process, ensuring they are based on sound logic with appropriate stretch and actionable planned improvements.
  •  Work with Corporate/ BU/Technical Services to develop and implement plans to optimize extraction, material movement and grade management.
  •  Challenge and support Mining Planning and Technical design and outputs in ensuring mine plans, technical functions and schedules provide inputs to support safe and efficient mining operations.
  • Establish effective communication and feedback processes for Mining teams and key stakeholder groups to ensure people are informed and aware of business objectives, performance and direction in a timely and routine manner.
  • Manage process and costs to ensure the Mining teams set and deliver the annual budget and production targets safely, efficiently and cost effectively.
  •  Develop cost awareness within Mining discipline and focus on reducing all process waste
  • Work closely, collaborate proactively and resolve issues jointly with Processing to align tonnage to fragmentation/volume/grade targets and with AS&R to align equipment availability targets, fixed plan infrastructure operational reliability programs.
  • Lead compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) local requirements as a minimum level of site performance.
  •  Ensure compliance with Anglo American requirements within discipline on site.
  •  Development requires compliance governance for discipline.

 

This role is at Band 5 level reporting to the Senior General Manager.

 

 

 

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Mining degree/diploma and/or Mine Managers Certificate of Competence
  •  Blasting Certificate
     

Knowledge And Skills

  • Competent as 3.1a
  • Valid driver’s license code 08
  • Computer literate for necessary systems

Experience

  • At least seven years’ mining experience at metalliferous mines
