This role is based in 144 Oxford Road, Rosebank

Job Description

This role is responsible for overseeing the electrical, automation and energy functions for Valterra Platinum.

Performance and Delivery

  • Lead the development of effective engineering standards and technical strategies in support of of electrical, control and instrumentation, automation and energy disciplines
  • Support to sites to manage engineering and maintenance resources to deliver production targets and projects as required.
  • Monitor compliance with all legal, environmental, occupational health and safety, and risk management standards and best practices.
  • Manage and contribute to continuous improvement and asset optimisation initiatives and projects for engineering processes.
  • Conduct benchmarks to keep abreast of new technologies that support continuous improvement and asset optimisation.
  • Maintain balance and alignment between mining, process, infrastructure and water management operations and maintenance.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic mine and processing plans and strategy.
  • Contribute towards programmes aimed at improving and maintaining the health of the discipline.
  • Contribute towards the development of Group Standards and Procedures pertaining to Asset Management and Engineering and Maintenance.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  • Implement, embed, stabilise and sustain production strategy and the associated service strategy; EAM systems planning; performance measurement; asset specifications; insourcing and outsourcing decisions; full asset management organisational design; succession planning; people skills analysis and development planning; asset criticality assessment; asset tactics development; tools and facilities requirements; reliability and maintainability analysis; the preliminary asset management risk register; supply chain and materials management interfaces; Stay-in-Business programmes; and Physical Life of Asset Plans.

Qualifications

  • Degree or National Diploma in Electrical Engineering
  • Government Certificate of Competency (MHSA and/or OHSAct)

Experience:

  • 10 years relevant engineering experience (electrical, control and instrumentation, energy) within mining and/or processing operations
  • Cross discipline: electrical, control and instrumentation, energy
  • Managing technical standards, continuous improvement, and capital projects in the electrical, control and instrumentation disciplines across business units within a company.
  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and experience required:
  • Electrical (MV and HV)
  • Energy supply, distribution networks, efficiency improvement projects
  • Control and Instrumentation (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider)
  • Capital project management
  • Strategic vision of 2-5 years.
  • Proficient skill in developing and leading people.
  • Advanced skill in managing asset life-cycle cost through appropriate cost management.
  • Expert skill in designing and implementing preventative-maintenance, risk-management and safety-improvement programmes.
