Change Analyst
Job Description
At Vector, we're delivering the infrastructure, technology and services that will support a smarter, more connected and increasingly electrified Auckland.
Our Vector31 strategy sets a clear direction for the future. As we continue to evolve the way we serve customers, manage our network and enable business performance, Digital & Data plays a critical role in connecting strategy, technology and delivery.
Within Digital & Data, we're building a new multidisciplinary Business Readiness team focused on one shared outcome: making sure the business is ready, confident and equipped to turn change into results.
Our team brings together change, benefits, learning and development, organisational design and business analysis capability. We work across the delivery lifecycle, combining our skills to understand impacts early, build organisational capability, support adoption and make readiness visible through evidence.
This is not change management from the sidelines. It's change with the business.
The opportunity
We're looking for a Change Analyst, but don't let the title decide whether you apply. We're looking for the capabilities underneath the title.
You could come from change, communications, business analysis, learning, operational improvement, project delivery or another discipline where you've learned how to understand people, analyse impacts, build relationships and turn complexity into practical action.
This is a new role at Vector, which means you'll have the chance to help shape it. We'll also invest in you. We'll work with you to explore the right mix of on-the-job learning, coaching and formal development to help you develop the skills you need.
You'll work alongside business owners, delivery teams and colleagues across our Business Readiness disciplines to understand what change means for people, processes, roles and ways of working, and then help build the conditions for successful adoption.
Most importantly, you'll help us move beyond doing change activities towards building change capability within the business itself.
What you'll be doing
- Get curious about what's changing, why it matters and who it affects.
- Identify impacts across people, roles, processes, capability and ways of working.
- Turn analysis into practical actions that help teams prepare for and adopt change.
- Work alongside business leaders and teams to help them confidently lead their own change.
- Gather and analyse readiness, adoption and stakeholder evidence rather than relying solely on assumptions.
- Support communications, engagement, learning and capability-building activities.
- Spot risks, patterns and opportunities early and help teams act on them.
- Connect readiness and adoption with the outcomes and benefits we're trying to achieve.
- Help create practical standards, tools and ways of working as our Business Readiness capability matures.
What you'll bring
We're looking for people who are enthusiastic, curious and willing to learn alongside their teammates.
You'll bring:
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills.
- Curiosity and the confidence to ask good questions.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building capability.
- An ability to listen, make sense of different perspectives and translate them into action.
- Confidence working with stakeholders at different levels.
- An instinct for making complicated things understandable.
- A willingness to flex beyond traditional role boundaries when the outcome calls for it.
- Comfort working through ambiguity.
- A genuine interest in helping people and organisations successfully navigate change.
Experience in change, transformation, business readiness, project delivery or operational improvement is relevant. An interest in digital delivery, operating model change, business process change and benefits-led transformation would also be valuable.
You don't need to arrive knowing everything. We'll provide coaching and development, and you'll have colleagues around you with complementary skills who will learn from you too.
A little ambiguity doesn't scare you
We're establishing Business Readiness as a capability, not simply creating another team.
That means some days you'll apply established practice. Other days you'll help us invent a better one.
You'll test ideas, learn, adapt and work across professional boundaries.
Not everything will fit neatly into a job description. There'll be room to stretch, contribute and learn as we go.
If you enjoy making sense of complexity, learning from others and creating something better together, we'd really like to hear from you.
Bring what you know. Be ready to learn. Teach us something too.
Different skills. Different perspectives. Better ways forward, together.
Why join us?
This is a chance to join a new team at the beginning and help shape how Business Readiness works at Vector.
You'll work in a genuinely multidisciplinary environment, with opportunities to stretch beyond your core discipline, learn from others and develop your capability through coaching and hands-on experience.
We're serious about outcomes and evidence, but equally serious about how we achieve them.
We want people who are curious enough to ask why, confident enough to ask 'how do we know?', and collaborative enough to say 'let's work it out together'.
You'll also have access to Vector's wider employee benefits, including flexible ways of working, wellbeing grants and support, subidised travel benefits and a range of learning and development opportunities.
Vector also supports one professional subscription or membership per employee, helping you stay connected to your practice and continue growing your network and skills.
Additional Information
We know that some people may hesitate to apply if they don’t meet every single requirement. If this role excites you, we encourage you to apply anyway - your skills, enthusiasm, and unique perspective could be just what we’re looking for.
Vector values diversity in all its forms and welcomes people of all backgrounds, experiences, identities and abilities to be part of our team.
