Job Description

Job Summary
The Chemical Operator Lead oversees the blending and bottling of laboratory supply reagents, ensuring products are manufactured safely, accurately, and in accordance with quality standards and production schedules. This role issues daily assignments to the bottling team based on sales orders and the 120 Report, prioritizing work to support on-time delivery and customer requirements. The Lead directs daily site activities within the bottling operation, coordinates workflow and resources, monitors production progress, and ensures adherence to established procedures, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines. The position also provides guidance and support to bottling personnel, addresses operational issues, maintains accurate production documentation, and collaborates with other departments to ensure efficient and timely completion of lab supply orders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead daily blending and bottling activities for the Lab Supply area, ensuring work is completed safely, accurately, and according to established procedures
• Review sales orders and the 120 Report to determine production priorities and issue daily assignments to the bottling group
• Direct the flow of production to support efficient operations and on-time delivery of laboratory supply reagents
• Coordinate staffing, equipment, materials, and workflow to meet daily production schedules and customer requirements
• Monitor blending and bottling operations to ensure proper quantities, product specifications, labeling, packaging, and documentation are followed
• Verify production records, batch documentation, inventory usage, and other required paperwork for accuracy and completeness
• Provide guidance, training, and work direction to bottling personnel while promoting accountability, teamwork, and consistent performance
• Identify, communicate, and help resolve production, equipment, material, quality, or scheduling issues
• Operate and direct the safe use of equipment,  in accordance with site procedures and applicable safety requirements
• Follow all chemical handling, personal protective equipment, respirator, and workplace safety requirements
• Ensure the work area is maintained in a clean, organized, and compliant condition
• Communicate production status, delays, material needs, and operational concerns to leadership and other appropriate departments
• Use computer systems to access orders, update production information, complete records, and support scheduling and reporting requirements
• Work overtime as needed to support production demands and customer delivery commitments

Qualifications

• Computer proficiency, including Google Suite and Microsoft Office

Education & Experience:

Required

• High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) certificate
• Three to five years of relevant experience in batch chemical blending or formulation involving hazardous materials
• Demonstrated proficiency with SAP or a comparable enterprise resource planning (ERP) system

Preferred

• Associate degree from an accredited two-year college or technical school
• Five (5) or more years of experience in batch chemical blending or formulation involving hazardous materials
• Five (5) or more years of experience performing analytical testing
• Five (5) or more years of experience in shift leadership or production team supervision
• Training and experience serving as an Emergency Response Incident Commander

Working Conditions:

• Must have schedule flexibility including overtime as needed
• Must be able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment in accordance with site safety procedures
