Business Process Governance Specialist
Company Description
WD is building the infrastructure behind the AI-driven data economy.
As AI scales, so does data. Every interaction, every model, every system generates data that must be stored, managed, and made accessible over time. That’s where we come in.
We combine deep engineering expertise with global-scale manufacturing to deliver the storage systems that make AI possible, powering hyperscale data centers, cloud platforms, and enterprise infrastructure worldwide.
This isn’t theoretical work. It’s real systems, at real scale, people solving some of the hardest challenges in technology today.
We’re looking for people who want to build, solve, and operate at that level.
Join us and let’s shape the future of data.
Job Description
Western Digital's Global Supply Chain Organization (GSCO) is building a Business Process Governance (BPG) program — a new, centralized governance function responsible for the integrity, currency, and audit-readiness of all business processes and procedures across the full GSCO. This program replaces fragmented, function-by-function documentation practices with a single, durable governance model that keeps policy and operational practice in sync, satisfies Internal and External Audit control requirements, and creates a standing mechanism for continuous improvement and digitalization.
The Business Process Governance Specialist is a core member of the BPG team, working directly under the BPG Program Lead. This role is responsible for executing the operational backbone of the program — procedure lifecycle management, audit control mapping, adherence assessment, governance tooling operations, training coordination, and continuous improvement tracking — across six GSCO functions and an active library of approximately 72 governed procedures.
This is not a content authorship role. Procedure content is owned and written by functional SMEs. The BPG Specialist is the governance engine: ensuring every procedure has a named owner, is mapped to its audit controls, is reviewed on schedule, and reflects operational reality.
Note: One of the three BPG Specialist hires will be designated as the Governance Technology & Operations lead based on candidate profile and experience, with additional responsibility for tooling selection support, IT project coordination, and platform administration.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Procedure Lifecycle Management
- Inventory, assess, and classify all GSCO procedures across assigned functions using established BPG framework standards
- Assign and confirm named procedure ownership in coordination with Functional VPs and their designated POCs
- Manage the full procedure lifecycle: intake, review scheduling, version control, approval routing, publication, and archival
- Identify and document procedure gaps; hand off gap remediation packages to functional owners with templates, standards, and deadlines
- Escalate missed review deadlines per the BPG escalation framework
- Apply the governance model to the procedure library across all assigned functions
Audit Control Mapping & Readiness Support
- Map all assigned procedures to applicable audit controls (Internal Audit, BCMS, IMS) using the BPG control mapping standard
- Maintain the procedure-to-control mapping registry; keep it current through procedure reviews and audit activity
- Support pre-audit readiness reviews with Functional Owners; surface documentation gaps before audit windows open
- Maintain audit intake log; route audit evidence requests to the appropriate Functional Owner with SLA clock initiated
- Track SLA compliance by Functional Owner; escalate misses per program framework
- Capture lessons learned post-audit; contribute findings to framework refinement.
Governance Tooling Operations
- Operate the BPG governance platform as the day-to-day system administrator: document repository, approval workflow, version control, audit trail, and automated review reminders
- Configure tooling for each function
- Ensure access controls are maintained in alignment with the ownership model
- Identify and escalate tooling gaps or workflow failures
For the Governance Technology & Operations designated hire — additional responsibilities:
- Lead the governance tooling evaluation and selection process in partnership with IT
- Define and document BPG tooling functional requirements for IT engagement
- Project-manage the tooling implementation from selection through go-live
- Serve as the primary BPG liaison to IT for platform configuration, enhancements, and issue resolution
- Own platform administration ongoing post-implementation
Review Cadence & Training Coordination
- Set, schedule, and track procedure review cadences weighted by risk across assigned functions
- Trigger training cycles tied to procedure review schedules; assign training to named owners and super-users
- Track training completion rates; escalate overdue completions per program framework
- Report training status to functional leads and BPG Program Lead
Continuous Improvement
- Surface efficiency, automation, and digitalization opportunities identified through procedure review and adherence assessment activity
- Synthesize and document CI opportunities; route to appropriate functional leaders via BPG Program Lead
- Track CI opportunities through to resolution; maintain CI KPI inputs (volume and resolution rate)
- Collaborate with Functional Owners to define and design procedure and process improvements where assigned
Pilot Execution & Rollout Support
- Execute BPG pilot activities in Sourcing P2P (Phase 1) including procedure inventory, gap identification, control mapping, tooling configuration, and training coordination
- Support pilot retrospective; contribute to framework documentation updates
- Extend framework function-by-function as rollout progresses
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years of experience in process governance, procedure lifecycle management, audit support, compliance program management, or COE/PMO operations
- Demonstrated experience managing a procedure or document library at scale — including ownership assignment, version control, review cadence, and audit trail requirements
- Working knowledge of audit control frameworks; ability to map process documentation to control requirements (Internal Audit, ISO, SOX, or equivalent)
- Exposure to or experience within Supply Chain, Procurement, or Global Operations environments — enough to engage functional SMEs as a credible peer
- Strong project management skills — able to manage multiple workstreams, track deliverables across stakeholders, and escalate systematically
- Experience working in or alongside cross-functional teams; able to build working relationships with Functional VPs, procedure owners, and operational SMEs
- High proficiency with document management platforms, workflow tools, or governance systems
- Clear, structured written communication — able to produce framework documentation, gap analyses, and status reports without heavy supervision
Preferred
- Hands-on experience as an Internal or External Auditor (not only supporting audits) strongly preferred, including testing controls, evaluating evidence, and documenting findings.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled training tools or process education platforms
- Experience coordinating with IT on digital transformation projects.
- Background in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent)
Why This Role
This program has direct executive sponsorship, a defined pilot-and-extend roadmap, and a mandate to close a recurring audit finding across a global supply chain organization. The BPG Specialist joins at program launch — shaping how governance operates, not inheriting someone else's framework. The work is visible, the scope is real, and the path from pilot to full GSCO coverage is already chartered.
