QA Automation Engineer

The Position
This role will combine core software QA practices—including functional testing, regression testing, end-to-end testing, test automation, and release validation. The role will also require the candidate to design, build, and maintain a scalable automation framework spanning UI, API, and integration testing — and embed quality gates directly into our CI/CD pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute reusable automated test plans for Wilson Elser's software applications, including functional testing, integration testing, regression testing, and end-to-end validation of user workflows.
- Verify that new features meet acceptance criteria, operate reliably across supported environments, and do not introduce regressions into existing functionality as efficiently as possible.
- Integrate automated checks into CI/CD pipelines where appropriate, including regression tests, workflow-level tests,
- Maintain clear test plans, test cases, defect documentation, quality criteria, and release readiness artifacts.
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, acceptance-criteria definition, and release reviews as the quality advocate for software functionality development and testing processes.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance, test engineering, or a related software engineering role.
- Experience designing and executing functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end test cases for production software applications within multi-faceted enterprise environments.
- Advanced skills with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, K6, Playwright, Selenium, Postman
- Strong experience with front end technologies utilizing JavaScript, Typescript, HTML, CSS, NodeJS
such as Angular, React, and/or Vue.js - Experience with back end and cloud languages such as C#, Java, or Python.
Preferred Qualifications
- Software QA Discipline: Strong understanding of functional testing, regression testing, integration testing, exploratory testing, defect management, and release validation.
- Evaluation and Rubric Design: Comfortable defining test scenarios, expected outcomes, and provide analytics based on automated workflows.
- Automation Focused: Strong grasp of test automation principles, API testing, CI/CD integration, and reusable test design.
- Collaborative Communicator: Comfortable working across engineering, data analytics, and product teams to define quality standards, acceptance criteria, and analyze results for continuous improvement.
- Lead By Example: Proven ability to mentor, participate, and promote environments of knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Education
- Bachelor of science degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field (or equivalent experience).
