Data Insights Associate
ABOUT THE TEAM
The Strategic Engagements team is responsible for World Data Lab's work with impact sector clients, including international organizations, development banks, government ministries, foundations and philanthropies. The team works globally, with people based in the United States, Nairobi, and Central Europe. This role sits in our Vienna office and works closely with both our data science team and our client facing colleagues.
ABOUT THE ROLE
World Data Lab is looking for a Data Insights Associate to join our public sector engagements team in Vienna. The main goal of the role is to increase the uptake of our data offerings (particularly our flagship product World Data Intelligence) across public sector clients.
You will work closely with our data science and business development colleagues to turn complex data into clear insights that public sector clients can act on. You will prepare analytical outputs, presentations and briefing notes, support live client engagements, and help shape how we grow our public sector work. This is also a client facing role, so joining client calls and presenting results is part of the job.
This is a good fit for someone who wants to apply strong technical skills to real policy questions in a mission driven, global organization. Candidates who are in the final stages of a Master's degree are also welcome to apply.
The role is based in Vienna and is full time. We work in a hybrid model.
THE CHALLENGE
Data storytelling and visualization: Use R to analyze World Data Lab datasets alongside external data sources and to build clear visual outputs. This includes finding the right datasets, producing charts that stand on their own, and building them into a narrative that fits the audience.
Technical and analytical project support: Provide hands on support on data focused client projects, including coding, quality assurance and quality control, and bespoke analyses built around a client question.
Client servicing and support: Prepare and deliver follow up materials such as decks and briefing notes, answer technical questions on client calls, and help prepare for key meetings.
Cross functional collaboration: Work with colleagues across our global offices to strengthen the public sector pipeline and contribute to SDG related projects, so that our insights feed directly into strategy and delivery.
