Job Overview

DuPont's Aerospace & Industrial business provides high-performance engineering resins, adhesives, and lubricants for demanding applications in aerospace, automotive, energy, mining, and industrial manufacturing.

The MOLYKOTE® Specialty Lubricants team is seeking an Application Engineer to serve as a technical advisor to customers facing wear, friction, reliability, and performance challenges. In this role, you will work directly with engineers, manufacturers, distributors, and end users to understand application needs, identify root causes, and recommend lubrication solutions that deliver measurable results.

This role is well suited for an engineer or chemist with lubricants experience who enjoys working with customers. You will collaborate with global experts in tribology and lubrication science and help shape future products based on what you learn in the field.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with customers, distributors, and cross-functional teams to understand performance challenges and identify technical solutions.
  • Lead investigations into friction, wear, lubrication, reliability, and equipment performance using scientific and engineering principles.
  • Design and conduct application testing, validate performance, and translate results into clear customer recommendations.
  • Serve as technical lead on key customer opportunities to improve equipment reliability, productivity, and cost-in-use.
  • Deliver technical training and presentations to customers, channel partners, and internal teams.
  • Support the development and commercialization of new and improved lubricant technologies by bringing customer and market needs back to R&D.
  • Build expertise in tribology test methods, application analysis, and specialized laboratory equipment in collaboration with global subject matter experts.
  • Evaluate advanced lubricants, specialty materials, and low-friction coatings to create differentiated customer solutions.
  • Work with commercial, marketing, manufacturing, supply chain, and R&D teams to support business growth.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and analytical thinking.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into practical recommendations.
  • Ability to build relationships and establish credibility with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and collaboration skills.
  • Initiative and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a customer-focused environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience with lubricants, greases, or tribology in application engineering, technical service, formulation, or product development.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with customers, distributors, or other external partners, such as technical service, field support, troubleshooting, or customer training.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, lubrication principles, materials performance, and reliability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in oil & gas, energy, mining, automotive, or industrial equipment applications.
  • Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS), Certified Lubricating Grease Specialist (CLGS), Six Sigma Green Belt, or similar certification.
