EHS Consultant

Do you want to help some of the world’s leading companies navigate complex environmental, and health & safety challenges?

ERM is looking for a motivated Environment and Health & Safety (EHS) consultant to join our Safe and Sustainable Operations (SSO) team in the Netherlands.

At SSO-Netherlands, you will work on a wide variety of projects for national and international clients in sectors such as Technology, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, and Waste Management.

You will support clients in understanding and complying with environmental and health & safety legislation, obtaining permits and approvals, assessing compliance risks, conducting EHS compliance audits and due diligence assessments, interpreting regulatory requirements, and evaluating the feasibility of new developments and operational changes.

Through your work, you will help clients navigate complex regulatory frameworks, manage risks, achieve compliance, and make informed decisions for their (future) operations. As their trusted advisor, your expertise can directly influence how clients approach key business, operational and investment decisions, helping them achieve their goals while ensuring to meet their environmental, health, and safety commitments.

As part of our consulting team, you will support the delivery of EHS services in the Netherlands, while collaborating with subject matter experts at ERM, across different teams and continents.

Key Responsibilities

You will contribute to the successful delivery of EHS projects by supporting a variety of activities, including:

· Contributing to the development of EHS standards, permitting documentation, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), and technical reports

· Supporting the execution of EHS audits and compliance assessments

· Assisting clients with the development of due diligence reports, risk assessments, environment, and health & safety procedures

· Supporting project delivery through collaboration with the team to produce high-quality deliverables within scope, budget and schedule

· Building and maintaining strong client relationships through clear communication and professionalism

· Working collaboratively with ERM colleagues across teams and geographies

Your Skills & Experience

· Strong communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise technical documentation and effectively convey complex ideas

· Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and drive in a consulting or industry environment

· Ability to manage priorities and contribute effectively within project teams

· Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships internally and externally

Your Qualifications

· BSc or MSc in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Safety, or a related discipline (preferred)

· 2+ years of relevant experience, either within a consulting environment or in an industry role with significant EHS exposure

· Knowledge of relevant Dutch legislation for environmental permitting and EHS audits.

· Fluency in Dutch and English (written and spoken)
