Hardware Test Engineer - Cyber
Summary
Anduril Industries seeks a Hardware Test Engineer in Costa Mesa, CA to design, build, and execute automated tests for deployable RF systems, ensuring their operational readiness through integration and field testing.
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company with a mission to transform U.S. and allied military capabilities with advanced technology. By bringing the expertise, technology, and business model of the 21st century’s most innovative companies to the defense industry, Anduril is changing how military systems are designed, built and sold. Anduril’s family of systems is powered by Lattice OS, an AI-powered operating system that turns thousands of data streams into a realtime, 3D command and control center. As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.
Anduril Hardware Test & Evaluation is hiring a Hardware Test Engineer to validate deployable RF systems from first power-on through operational acceptance. You’ll design the test architecture for integrated SDR and antenna systems, build the automation that proves they work, and deploy with the team to put them in operators’ hands. The work spans bench-level radio verification, full-system integration across RF, software, and networking, and field acceptance testing at sites. This role directly supports emerging programs within Anduril Cyber and will give warfighters capabilities they don’t have today.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Design test approaches, fixtures/harnesses, and automated validation workflows that exercise hardware/software systems in lab and pre-field environments.
- Integrate Anduril’s Test and Evaluation process into the program and ensure adherence throughout the life of the program.
- Operate across RF test equipment (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power meters), networking infrastructure, and system-control surfaces to validate integrated behavior end to end.
- Partner with software, FPGA, DSP, hardware, and systems engineers to reproduce issues, isolate failures, and improve release confidence.
- Establish disciplined test plans, defect triage loops, and evidence packages that support productization and field readiness reviews including Min Viable Product/IOC/FOC acceptance criteria.
- Deploy with the team to execute system acceptance testing, validate field performance, and support the transition from lab-proven to operationally proven.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of test engineering experience with integrated hardware/software/RF systems, not purely software test automation.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD-backed regression systems, preferably with GitLab CI/CD or similar platforms.
- Hands-on familiarity with RF and hardware test equipment such as signal generators, analyzers, switch matrices, power systems, or environmental chambers.
- Proficiency in test automation using Python, Bash, or comparable scripting for equipment control, data collection, and regression testing.
- Ability to translate requirements into concrete test procedures, fixture/harness designs, coverage maps, and objective pass/fail evidence.
- Comfort working across Linux systems, networking, infrastructure, and hardware interfaces while debugging integrated failures.
- Must be able to operate in an environment with little supervision and possess an ability to relentlessly create solutions to challenging problem.
- Current U.S. passport or willing to obtain one immediately
- In this role, you will be subject to pre-employment and randomized substance screening, as required by the Company.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with software-defined radios and satellite communications systems, particularly in Ku/Ka bands.
- Experience with qualification testing, environmental testing, or standards-driven validation (MIL-STD, DO-178, or equivalent) in defense or aerospace.
- Experience supporting field acceptance testing, operational readiness reviews, or deployment of tactical systems.
- Background leading or coordinating small validation teams and establishing scalable engineering workflows.
- Experience supporting field events, acceptance testing, or high-visibility readiness reviews.
- Experience with the Department of Defense or Government Cyber Commands/Agencies
- Currently possess or have the ability to possess a US Security Clearance
