Head of Product

On-site Los Angeles, CA, United States Full-time 7+ yrs

Location: Los Angeles, CA (onsite)

Pay: $150,000–$220,000

Type: Permanent · Full time

A consumer performance brand in the active lifestyle space is hiring a head of product to build its line, and its product team, from the ground up. It suits an engineer who moved into product. You report to the CEO, sit with a small in-office team, and own the roadmap outright.

What you'll do

  • Set the roadmap against market demand, consumer insight and what the factory can actually make

  • Run development from brief through tooling, sampling, validation and launch

  • Work directly with an overseas manufacturing partner on materials, feasibility, cost and quality

  • Write performance specs and run testing with engineering discipline

  • Partner with the design and commercial leads so product, brand and go-to-market line up

  • Create the stage-gate process and documentation for a new product function

What you bring

  • An engineering foundation (mechanical, industrial, materials or similar), by degree or by career path

  • 7–12 years across engineering and product management, with real time spent owning product

  • Physical consumer products you took from concept through production and launch at scale

  • Direct work with contract manufacturers or OEMs, ideally overseas: you can review a sample, read a tolerance stack and talk tooling with a manufacturing engineer

  • Experience in cycling, powersports, action sports, outdoor or athletic hardgoods (digital-only product won't carry over)

  • Live in or will relocate to greater Los Angeles; the role is fully onsite

Nice to have: A product whose market results you can trace to a materials or process call you made.
