Hydraulic Field Engineer
Location: Huntington, WV area (onsite)
Type: Contract-to-hire · Full time · Day shift, 40 hrs/week plus overtime, no nights
A steelmaker is hiring a Hydraulic Field Engineer to own every hydraulic system in its plant, from commissioning through repair. Much of the equipment is European-built, with more complex hydraulic designs than typical domestic mill gear, so field depth with a major hydraulics OEM counts for more than industry background. You set your own floor-to-office split.
What you'll do
Own the plant's hydraulic systems end to end: commissioning, PM, troubleshooting and repair
Plan spares and parts for hydraulic components
Work the floor on your own, solving issues with little supervision
Drive improvements to hydraulic systems and maintenance practices
Partner with the mechanical team and site leaders on plant reliability
What you bring
Field engineering background commissioning and servicing hydraulic systems on site (design-only won't fit)
Direct experience with Rexroth, Parker or a similar hydraulics OEM or service contractor
Strong reading of hydraulic schematics and equipment specs
Hands-on troubleshooting and repair skills
Comfort owning a system alone, around heat, noise and heavy machinery (standard PPE)
Nice to have: Experience with European-built or similarly complex hydraulics, steel or heavy industrial plants, spares planning.
Starts as a contract with a path to permanent based on performance.
