Job Description:
INTERVENTION SPECIALIST
West Phoenix, AZ (85043) | 37.5 hours/week |
You know a behavior plan that sits in a binder is not the same as one that works on a Tuesday morning with 12 kindergartners. You know how a classroom feels when the routines finally click and the para knows exactly where to stand. If you've helped make that happen, we'd like to talk with you.
Point Quest is building a small team of intervention specialists for a K-8 district in west Phoenix. You'll work in K-2 self-contained classrooms, side by side with teachers and paras. You'll be in the room during the school day, not running after-school trainings. You'll model, coach and step back once the classroom team can run it without you.
Primary responsibilities
- Coach in real time. Run 6-week cycles in a classroom: observe, plan, model, co-teach, coach, then fade out.
- Build plans that work. Write FBAs and BIPs with the teacher, spelling out who does what and when in that room.
- Bring structure. Help classrooms move from whole-group instruction to centers-based rotations.
- Grow the adults. Train paras on their role at each center, and help teachers lead their paras with confidence.
- Show the change. Track fidelity from week 1 to week 6 so everyone can see the progress.
- Help students move forward. Support the district as it builds clear pathways for students to return to less restrictive settings.
Experience & Skills
- 3+ years working directly with elementary students with significant behavior needs in schools
- Hands-on experience writing or implementing FBAs and BIPs
- Experience coaching teachers, paras or behavior staff
- A bachelor's degree in special education, psychology, ABA or a related field
- Crisis prevention training (CPI, Safety-Care or similar), or willingness to complete it
- Ability to pass a background check and get an Arizona fingerprint clearance card
Preferred Experience
- A BCBA, BCaBA or RBT credential, or ABA coursework
- A special education teaching certificate
- Experience with students with autism or developmental disabilities in structured classrooms
- Experience supporting teachers who are new to U.S. schools
What Makes This a Great Opportunity
- One district and one team, so you can build real relationships with staff and students
- Work that's coaching, not paperwork: you're in classrooms, where the change happens
- A team of fellow specialists, so you're not doing this alone
- Support from Point Quest Group and Eleutheria local Arizona special education solutions provider
