Marketing Director
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Marketing Director based in the United States.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced marketing leader to drive profitable growth for a design-focused e-commerce business serving both consumers and professional clients. You will oversee the full marketing ecosystem, spanning paid acquisition, email and SMS, affiliate partnerships, social media, and on-site performance. A key priority will be expanding the B2B trade program by attracting and retaining interior designers, architects, and hospitality clients. You will combine creative strategy, data-driven decision-making, and financial discipline to maximize marketing effectiveness. Working within a lean, remote team, you will lead internal specialists and external partners while collaborating closely with finance, merchandising, and sales. This hands-on leadership role offers the opportunity to shape marketing strategy, strengthen measurement practices, and build a scalable growth engine.
Accountabilities:
You will lead marketing strategy and execution across consumer and trade audiences, ensuring that campaigns deliver measurable business results while strengthening brand positioning and customer relationships.
-
Own performance marketing strategy, budget allocation, and optimization across Google Ads, Meta, affiliate programs, and other paid acquisition channels, prioritizing gross profit after variable costs.
-
Develop and execute marketing initiatives for the B2B trade program, attracting and retaining high-value interior designers, architects, and hospitality clients in partnership with the sales team.
-
Manage the overall marketing budget, vendor relationships, agency partnerships, contracts, and renewals.
-
Integrate creative development with performance marketing by briefing campaigns, structuring creative tests, analyzing results, and applying insights to improve outcomes.
-
Lead email, SMS, and lifecycle marketing for both consumer and trade audiences, balancing engagement, content, retention, and revenue generation.
-
Coordinate promotional campaigns with merchandising teams while maintaining agreed profitability and margin targets.
-
Oversee organic social media and customer review channels, including Instagram, Pinterest, and Trustpilot.
-
Manage affiliate marketing programs end to end, including partner performance, editorial relationships, and publisher collaborations.
-
Establish reliable cross-channel measurement and reporting in collaboration with finance and data teams to support informed business decisions.
-
Own the go-to-market strategy and marketing calendar, translating quarterly brand and trend direction into product launches, campaigns, and seasonal initiatives.
-
Coordinate campaign planning and execution across merchandising, creative, and trade teams to ensure consistent delivery.
-
Lead, mentor, and develop the marketing team, including email and SMS, creative, and copywriting specialists, while managing external performance marketing partners.
-
Define team priorities, establish clear responsibilities, and determine future hiring needs as the business grows.
-
Drive first-year outcomes, including profitable marketing growth, stronger trade acquisition, trusted measurement practices, and continued team development.
-
At least 7 years of experience in e-commerce marketing, including 3 or more years leading performance marketing and managing budgets.
-
Hands-on expertise in Google Ads, Meta advertising, affiliate marketing, and multi-channel campaign optimization.
-
Demonstrated success driving profitable growth rather than focusing solely on revenue or acquisition volume.
-
Experience marketing to B2B or trade audiences, such as designers, architects, hospitality professionals, or other business buyers, or a well-developed strategy for building these segments.
-
Experience owning a marketing budget or P&L and partnering with finance on forecasting, contribution margin, and profitability-driven investment decisions.
-
Strong understanding of how creative strategy influences performance, including the ability to develop briefs, structure experiments, and interpret creative testing results.
-
A strong eye for design, branding, and product storytelling, with the ability to distinguish compelling creative from ineffective messaging.
-
Comfort working with marketing analytics and measurement tools, including GA4 and BigQuery or comparable platforms.
-
Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop a small team while coordinating external agencies and business partners.
-
A builder's mindset, with the ability to introduce structure, establish priorities, and remain hands-on in a lean, fast-moving environment.
-
Experience in home furnishings, furniture, or design-led retail is a plus.
-
Familiarity with Klaviyo for email and SMS marketing, as well as Instagram and Pinterest for organic social media, is advantageous.
-
Strong communication, analytical thinking, collaboration, and leadership skills.
-
Ability to work remotely and collaborate effectively with a distributed team.
