That makes this a pivotal moment to join the team and help shape how we build privacy into everything we ship.
You’ll partner across Product, Engineering, Security, and the broader legal team, accelerating great ideas with trust by design. You’ll advise on a wide range of global privacy laws and on sensitive data, including children’s and biometric data. In a small, high-visibility team, your work will directly influence strategic decisions across the company. This is the perfect role for someone who thrives in the space between principles and action, and who is known for finding the “yes, if…”
As a Privacy Counsel on the Privacy Legal Team at Superhuman, you will:
Be the friendly, go-to privacy partner for legal, product, engineering, marketing, and security teams, advising on data privacy, security, and compliance requirements across issue and product lifecycles
Give practical, risk-calibrated privacy guidance for legal and business stakeholders based on global privacy and data protection laws (including GDPR, CCPA, COPPA, HIPAA, and U.S. state laws)
Support privacy M&A diligence and integration from end-to-end, working closely across legal and business teams to help the business move fast and responsibly
Support, advise on, and drive cross-functional technical implementation for horizontal privacy compliance work, including related to privacy/AI compliance as well as regulated and sensitive data types (such as health, children, and biometrics)
Develop, improve, and scale privacy reviews, guidance, and playbooks
Conduct privacy impact reviews, create and maintain documentation, and proactively identify and address potential areas for scale and improvement
Design and deliver privacy and data protection training for internal teams
Support the privacy legal team’s global regulatory readiness, with a focus on US and European privacy and data protection frameworks, including overlapping AI regulations
Track industry developments and best practices related to privacy in SaaS, AI, and cloud technologies
Qualifications
JD and membership in good standing with at least one US state bar
5+ years of relevant privacy counseling experience, preferably at a major technology company, B2B/B2C AI/SaaS provider, or top law firm
Deep knowledge of global privacy, security, and data protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, etc.) and experience with sector-specific regulations
Demonstrated ability to translate complex, ambiguous issues or problems into direct, actionable guidance
Track record partnering across teams such as legal, product, and engineering in a fast-paced environment
Strong interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills
A team player with high agency, a healthy sense of humor, and low ego
A history of getting to “yes, if…”
CIPP or other privacy certification is a plus
