(Senior) Electronics Engineer (m/f/d)
The Robotics & Mechatronics Teams at Agile Robots are looking for a (Senior) Electronics Engineer (m/f/d) who will help develop PCB-level electronics for our robot arms, from safety-circuit design through to production-ready schematics.
Responsibilities
- PCB Design: Create and review schematics, PCB layouts, and wiring diagrams for production, from initial concept through manufacturing-ready output.
- Safety Circuits: Design and implement safety circuits and fail-safe mechanisms for the robot's electronics, working within established safety requirements.
- Component Selection: Select and integrate electronic components (motors, drivers, sensors, power systems) that meet the robot's performance and reliability requirements.
- Test Development: Design in-house test devices and write test cases for the electronics subsystem.
- Hardware Debugging: Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and electronics issues on the physical robot, working directly with firmware, software, and mechanics engineers when a fault crosses disciplines.
- Documentation: Develop and maintain electrical documentation, including BOMs, test procedures, and compliance reports.
Essential Skills
- Engineering Background: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of training and hands-on experience designing electronics for robotic or industrial systems.
- Hands-On Build: Hands-on experience building and debugging electronics, including schematic capture and PCB layout in Altium Designer, microcontroller programming, and signal debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers.
- Safety Standards: Working knowledge of safety standards for high-voltage and high-current electronics.
- Power Electronics: Working knowledge of power electronics for robotic systems, including PMSM motor control, DC/DC converters, battery management, and thermal design for power components.
- Communication Protocols: Working understanding of communication protocols used in robotic and embedded systems, including CAN, SPI, I2C, and Ethernet.
Beneficial Skills
- Harness Design: Experience with harness design and cable management for moving systems.
- SolidWorks Electrical: Experience with SolidWorks Electrical for wiring and harness documentation.
- Functional Safety: Experience working on functional safety projects.
- Test Specifications: Experience writing requirements and test case specifications, and implementing the resulting tests.
- Software Tools: Familiarity with common software engineering tools such as git.
