Senior Software Engineer, Fintech Products
Summary
This role builds core money-moving systems for a fintech startup, focusing on payroll, bill pay, and banking features. You'll use TypeScript/Node.js and PostgreSQL, setting standards for transaction guarantees and reconciliation.
Location: New York, NY (onsite, 5 days)
Pay: $220,000–$300,000 + equity
A fast-growing, venture-backed software and payments company is building payroll, bill pay and banking features from scratch. This engineer will set the patterns every money-moving system at the company follows.
What you'll do
Build payroll and bill pay from the ground up
Build ledgers, embedded accounts and accounting syncs
Set the standards for idempotency, retries and reconciliation
Find root causes when numbers don't match, and fix them for good
What you bring
5+ years building production backend systems, ideally TypeScript or Node
Transaction guarantees: idempotency, retries, atomicity
Deep PostgreSQL
Precision about reconciliation and rounding
Nice to have: payroll, banking or audited ledger systems; ACH, payment processors or accounting integrations; directing AI coding agents
