Epirus' flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less.

Job Summary:

This is an exciting role in an innovative, high-growth defense technology company. The Systems Engineer – I&T leads the integration and test of complex electro-mechanical defense systems across the full development lifecycle. The ideal candidate has deep hands-on systems ownership in driving rapid, agile Design Verification Testing (DVT) during early prototyping and defining rigorous, repeatable Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) for production. This role contributes to requirements and architecture definition at all levels of the system, troubleshoots system level issues down to the component root cause, and supports final system sell-off prior to customer delivery. This position will report to the Senior Manager of Test Engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive system integration and verification test plans.
  • Lead hands-on benchtop subsystem and system-level integration and test, including electrical power system bring-up, functional validation, and field test.
  • Execute fast-paced, iterative Design Verification Testing (DVT) during the prototyping phase to rapidly de-risk system functionality
  • Define, document, and validate rigorous Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) and quality gates for seamless transition into volume manufacturing.
  • Perform system level troubleshooting with electrical and RF lab equipment
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional design teams to isolate, reproduce, and resolve integration anomalies and system-level failures.
  • Contribute to requirements and architecture development, actively identifying integration and end-user pain-points to drive Design-for-Test (DFT), Design-for-Manufacturing (DFM), and Design-for-Use (DFU) best practices back into the left side of the Systems Engineering V.
  • Work side-by-side with test engineers and manufacturing technicians to transfer new test racks and validate production test results
  • Support system sell-off activities and final customer delivery.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience spanning the entire product lifecycle (Concept to Delivery), or minimum 3 years of experience with an MS degree.
  • Demonstrated experience integrating and testing complex electrical systems.
  • Experience planning and executing tests for both prototype and production
  • Ability to conduct initial troubleshooting on all parts of the system (electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, digital, RF)
  • Hands-on proficiency with electrical and RF test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, VNAs, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and DAQs)
  • Familiarity with Requirements & Verification Management tools (e.g., Jama, DOORS) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Collaborative mindset with clear technical communication skills; comfortable defending technical decisions, challenging assumptions, and driving root-cause corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Highly organized and resilient in high-velocity, evolving environments.
  • US Citizen and/or Permanent Resident (future security clearance may be required).

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience writing test automation and data extraction scripts, preferably using Python
  • Experience working with RF systems (e.g. radar, comms, EW, etc.), preferably including phased arrays
  • Experience safely working with electrical power systems
  • Experience troubleshooting embedded systems
  • Familiarity with environmental requirements and verification (shock/vibe, humidity, temperature, sand / dust, etc.)

ITAR REQUIREMENTS:

To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
