Technical Writer, GL Compliance (Secondment 9-12 Months)

United States - Pennsylvania - Collegeville Full-time 1+ yrs

WHY PATIENTS NEED YOU

The Technical Writer, Global Logistics Compliance supports the drafting, structuring and formatting of global and local procedural documentation owned by Global Logistics Risk & Compliance. The role partners with compliance leads and subject matter experts across Dangerous Goods, Business Continuity and Controlled Substances to convert, author and maintain the GLRC document suite to Pfizer Quality System standards and QMS Revolution document architecture.

WHAT YOU WILL ACHIEVE

This is a transformation-phase role created to deliver a defined body of documentation work: the transfer of Dangerous Goods and Business Continuity operational content into Global Logistics ownership, the authorship of new operational Business Continuity documentation and third-party contractual attachments, and the conversion of Global Logistics–owned Controlled Substance local documentation into Revolution-compliant Local Work Instruction and Job Aid formats. The Technical Writer supports document development based on SME input and is not the subject matter expert for process content.

HOW YOU WILL ACHIEVE IT

Document authorship and conversion

  • Draft, structure and format Global SOPs, Global Work Instructions, Local Work Instructions, Job Aids, forms and templates owned by Global Logistics Risk & Compliance, based on content and direction provided by the compliance leads and SMEs.

Template and standards compliance

  • Ensure the current approved template is used for every document; apply the writing standards set out in the applicable Business Guidance Documents, including BGD – Effective Writing of a Procedural Document and BGD on Business Guidance Documents for PGS and PharmSci; confirm document type aligns with the applicable BGD.

Process mapping and traceability

  • Obtain and maintain mapping of legacy source documents to the new document structure; verify that requirements carried over from source content are traceable, non-duplicative and correctly placed; confirm content aligns with intended scope and document type.

Diagrams and visual content

  • Create and update process flowcharts and diagrams, keeping them editable and translation-ready; avoid image-based diagram content that cannot be edited or translated.

Change control support

  • Prepare document-related updates for review using the approved Change Control template; ensure impacted documents are aligned to the Change Control scope and ready for review; escalate gaps that could affect document readiness. Change Control ownership and business decisions remain with the process owner.

Review cycle management

  • Manage documents through Policies & Procedures review, key influencer review and approval routing; incorporate redlines and reviewer comments; maintain a single controlled working file per document and prevent version fragmentation.

Digital enablement

  • Use approved AI drafting tools — Microsoft Copilot, the GSOP Agent and GWI Agent, and VOX where applicable — to accelerate drafting, and validate all output against approved source material before it enters the approved template.

Document library stewardship

  • Support the GLRC Compliance Pillar in maintaining document inventories, the Resources & Templates library, periodic review schedules and documentation compliance reporting across the GL document suite.

QUALIFICATIONS

Must-Have

  • Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with at least 3+ years of experience; OR a master's degree with more than 1+ year of experience; OR an associate's degree with 6+ years of experience; OR a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 8+ years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated technical or procedural writing experience in a GMP, GDP or other regulated environment.
  • Proven experience authoring or converting procedural documents — SOPs, work instructions, job aids, forms or templates — within a controlled document management system.
  • Working knowledge of document lifecycle management: change control, periodic review, versioning and approval routing.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including styles, templates, restricted editing and tracked changes; proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and diagramming tools.
  • Ability to translate SME input and legacy narrative content into clear, action-based procedural language without introducing or altering requirements.
  • Strong stakeholder management across a matrixed, multi-region environment; able to work independently to deadlines with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-Have

  • Prior experience as a QMS Revolution Technical Writer, Policies & Procedures Coordinator, or equivalent document transformation role.
  • Familiarity with Pfizer document systems — PDOCS, eQMS, and the Veeva QualityDocs platform.

  • Demonstrated fluency with AI-assisted drafting tools in a regulated documentation context.

  • It requires sustained attention to detail, analytical thinking, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to organize multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • The colleague must be able to synthesize complex technical information, reconcile reviewer feedback, and maintain document accuracy and traceability.
  • Essential functions may be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
